Ease of use and cleaning is second necessity. I have owned a wide variety of mandolines, and this one is the winner by far. I always consider it as a gift to others. So far, I have bought it for my 2 sisters, a friend and me. We are all senior citizens, with a variety of ailments such as arthritis and low hand strength. We are all in agreement that using the Jonscook has made our lives better because slicing and dicing is now a pleasant experience. The blade is very sharp, so I recommend to consider avoiding using if distracted or tired. The hopper, wider than most, and the wide range of cutting options with a quick flip of a knob are very nice features. Sometimes it sticks a little during cutting but a quick pop on the handle resolves the issue. Thank you Jonscook for making my life happier and healthier! Fresh veggies and fruits prepped in minutes!
