The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel / We Bought a Zoo / The Descendants [DVD] [2011]

I couldn't find anything here that would cause offence to children, or even someone of a sensitive nature.These are just pure entertainment for all the family though a few would be disappointed for the lack of sex, nudity, car chases and violence. A little bit of swearing but we are forewarned by the warning on the dvd jacket back cover.'Marigold' is awash with luminaries of British stage and screen. Dench, Nighy, Wilkinson, Dev Patel and Maggie Smith strut their stuff, some loudly others subtly but all are a joy to watch, bringing their unique characterizations to their roles. This is wonderful to watch and begot a 2nd film and a whole tv series ---- this is where it all started.'Zoo' is very American (but based on a true story that happened in the UK) and just as absorbing and I enjoyed Matt Damon playing in something lightweight for a change. He shows he has a full range of acting ability. His role is suitably underplayed and allows the children in his family to sparkle, together with a good performance from Scarlett Johansson. And then there are the animals! And of course there was a tv series.'Descendants' was the surprise to me, it was better than I expected and Clooney is quite outstanding. Directed by Alexander Payne who I know from watching the off-beat comedy 'Sideways'. Enjoyable.
