Top is tight
If you have large breaststroke, this may not be fir you. I tried different sizes and none fit right. Fabric was lovely, well constructed but had to pass.

Despite the beautiful fabric, it looks too frumpy on me.
I was hoping to be bowled over by this elegant ensemble, but I'm not. It doesn't look good on me; it looks inelegant, and I think it ages me. And though the fabric is beautiful, it's thick and heavy, and uncomfortable. The dress is not at all flattering and needs a lot of alterations. I'm a seamstress and could do it if I thought I'd be happy with the result. But even if it was a good fit, I still don't like the heavy, restricting fabric. The garment fit:I ordered size 16. It's fine across the bust and midriff, but the armholes are huge. I could take a little from the under arms at the side seams, without taking from the bust, but the armholes would still be huge. The dress has princess seams, so I would have to remove the lining and adjust it from there. That's a lot of work. Also, the shape is huge around the thighs, and a lot would need to be cut from below the hips to the hem, to straighten the curved side seams. If you have voluptuous thighs and heavy upper arms, this might be a good dress for you.I'm 5'4" and I expected the skirt length would require shortening, to fall just below the knee. It needs to be shortened by at least 3".The fit of the jacket is acceptable, after shortening the sleeves by about 1 1/2". And if I was going remove the lining to do that, I would also slim down the sleeves too.Colors and fabric:In the pictures, the beige looks like a pale shimmering light cream color. In person, the base is a warm shimmering cream, and it has a lot of texture, with raised jacquard embroidered in a ribbon-effect, in matte beige, and very shiny metallic silver threads. The three colors blend beautifully, and I would love to have a couple of throw pillows covered in this sturdy fabric, or even an entire armchair upholstered in it.Maybe if I was tall and skinny, and able to wear a smaller size .... but this dress and jacket looks like it's designed for my age group, over 50s.So, it's back to the flowy dresses in fluid fabrics, which are much more flattering on me.
