The expansion pack is NOT the game itself, and is meant to add to the original game. The expert in this game told me when they bought a deluxe edition of it, it CAME with the expansion pack already, so this addition was superfluous! So, be warned, if you're giving this as a gift, make sure it's supplementing a set that doesn't already include it. I can't speak to the game itself, but for fans of the VIDEO GAME, from which this card game is a spin-off, it's a fun addition to the Isaac universe.
