Good quality
I love rockwool cubes because they are super easy to grow in and there's no mess.

nice big block for my tomatoes
needed a medium that can let my tomato root down good. I squeezed this block into a circular pot and filled the gaps with clay pebbles.I may also take one or two to cut down into smaller cubes for my indoor tiny hydroponic for herbs and other veggies during the winter!

Not What I Thought
I didn't realize that it is dangerous to handle these blocks without using gloves and glasses/goggles. They are like fiberglass. This is not made clear in the text, although the pictures show someone holding a cube in a gloved hand. Also, I thought that they contained nutrients for starting off plants with water and without soil, which is my error as I didn't read all the info on the product page. Once you know this, the cubes are good for starting plants after you soak them in water with nutrients.

Working nicely so far
I have six of these fitted into the bottom of a plastic tub, under a grow light, with the intention of growing some smaller vegetables in the house during the colder months. The blocks are grooved underneath to channel excess water. I have a number of seeds planted in these, and after ten days I now have dwarf bush beans well up and looking as if they will survive. Their roots should not impinge on the neighboring blocks' plants, as each block is individually wrapped on all sides (except the top and bottom, of course). I have high hopes for these providing a stable base for all my seedlings and, ultimately, my full-grown plants. I have had good success in the past with the small rock-wool blocks, but always had to transplant them on. I am thinking that if I am careful with the nutrient solution, these just-sprouted plants will live their complete life-cycle in these large blocks. [I will update this review in a few months.]I had never seen blocks of this size before, or I certainly would have purchased some.EDIT MARCH 22: I have two of the blocks with dwarf stringbeans growing in them (the plants are flowering now) and two with poblano peppers (growing slowly, but growing). The other two have a basil plant and a dwarf tomato plant. These are also growing slowly. I have had minimal trouble with algae on some of the blocks, but it's my own fault as I watered the blocks from above rather than below. Those I did water only from below have almost no algae. All the plants look good!

Great medium
VidaWool 6" Blocks are hydroponic growing media designed for starting seedlings, cuttings, and young plants. They're made from mineral wool, which provides good aeration and drainage while retaining moisture. The blocks are 6 inches in diameter and 5.3 inches tall, offering ample space for root development.Pros:Easy to use: No need for messy soil or complicated setups.Good drainage and aeration: Promotes healthy root growth.Reusable: Can be used for multiple growing cycles.Consistent performance: Provides a reliable growing environment for your plants.Cons:Requires nutrient solution: Not a complete growing medium on its own.Can dry out quickly: Requires regular monitoring and watering.May irritate skin: Wear gloves when handling.Overall, VidaWool 6" Blocks are a good option for beginner and experienced hydroponic growers alike. They're easy to use, provide good growing conditions for plants, and can be reused. However, it's important to remember that they require nutrient solution and regular monitoring.

Great for hydroponic use!
We plan to use these cubes for our hydroponic grow later in the year. This is nice pack size and they seem well made. The 6 in size provides more than enough rootzone area. They have a seedling hole in the center and should allow for large plant growth. The material is wrapped in plastic type material for support and should not fall apart when in use.
