Game Changer in Efficiency & Error Reduction
This is an amazing product, and a game changer for people who need reasonable accuracy and are trying to reduce human errors.First off: it will not replace my normal tape measure which is always on my belt. But I use it when I need to take a bunch of measurements in a row, scoping out a new project, or for "high consequence" measurements (would cost me more than $50 in money or time if I make a mistake). If it would blow your mind that a measuring tape would require a firmware update, then don't get this product. Just keep on doing what you're doing. Also, if you are not comfortable with the fact that it is electronic and you need to fairly often plug it in to charge, then don't get this product. Those things don't bother me and there is a lot to really like about this product. It greatly reduces errors and is super efficient. And if you're one of those people who never makes an error, then don't get this product. It has a big, bright display, works in all lighting and the e-paper list of measurement on the side is super useful. Its perpendicular laser is very useful and helps reduce errors when aligning things. Before purchasing, I thought the smart phone integration was a gimmick that I would never use. But it is very well designed, and I used it the first day I got it. Intuitive, and powerful. No more writing down numbers, then losing the paper, or mis-reading or incorrectly entering the numbers into a calculator. The Rock smartphone app (while relatively young in it's life) is pretty darn well designed and useful. My phone is in my pocket, but receiving all the measurements I'm taking, and you can organize by project and sub-project areas.I know all the tricks for doing fractional math, and can do it quickly. However, I end up making mistakes maybe 5% of the time, and this tool eliminates those errors. And wasted time/money in fixing the errors. This tool will not replace a caliper, if you need very high precision. But IMHO it is plenty accurate enough for most construction needs.Plan on spending an hour or two getting yourself familiar with the menus, buttons when you first get it. It's all very well designed, but like anything new, you should get familiar with it. Practice some with it and you'll realize the menu system on the tool (which at first might seem janky) is very cleverly designed for efficiency.I've only had it for 2 months, but it does seem very durable and well built. Great design for changing tapes when they wear out. It is fairly heavy, so it's not on my belt all day every day, but it *is* on my belt when I need it.When I first saw this product on a web page, I scoffed and told my wife that I would never spend $250 on a tape measure. But after doing some research, I did, thinking I could just return it if it was a piece of junk. So I get to eat my words. This is one of my favorite products in years.Reekon folks: great job! Looking forward to what else you come up with and/or improvements

THIS WILL SAVE YOU TIME AND MONEY
Ok i bought this as I am in construction. This thing has saved me time in many ways. From pulling a no touch measurement using the lazer to finding center at a push of the button, it makes everything faster and makes productivity increase. Also having the ability to make spread sheets by connecting to my computer and having all the measurements go on material lists is amazing. But wait there is more. The app is outstanding. I can have all my cuts saved to the app by job phase and visual representation of what is beimg built and modified.I, like you, have read the reviews and maybe thought oh sounds like too much trouble. The battery lasts all day then the next day as well on a single charge. Configuring this is a breeze and plus its not too heavy. The included holster is perfect for carrying the device. The only thing it needs is a clip for a pencil while doing layouts. Its worth the cost and an amazing inclusion to any tool enthusiasts collection.

Worth the money.
This thing is really cool. It’s pricey but super accurate. My first few cuts turned out much better than my other tape measure, mostly because I forget by the time I get to the saw.

Nice investment for tools
My husband says this was the best investment to add to his tool collection. Very durable, saves time measuring when you in a hurry to get the job done. Easy to use and reliable. For the price it is definitely worth it.

Lots to like but also some significant questionable design choices.
The Tomahawk tape measure offers robust features along with some significant usability issues. Here's my experience:Pros:Durability: Built like a tank, it's designed to withstand rough handling.Customer Support: Responsive, though only available via email.Innovative Features: Includes multiple functionalities that typically require separate tools, such as a viewable measurement from any angle—a bonus for aging eyes.Cons:Calibration Process: While the tape measure is accurate, achieving this accuracy requires a complex calibration process that can be frustrating and time-consuming.Firmware Updates: The device frequently indicates that a firmware update is available, even after recent updates. But beware. If you apply a firmware update, whether its actually new or just the ever present message that says a firmware update is available, you will be back to step one, which is the calibration process, which isn't any easier the second time around.Charging System: Lacks a standard USB port on the battery; charging can only be done via a port on the tape measure itself, making the tape measure unusable while charging the battery. Have a second battery, you double this frustration!Battery drain has been improved with firmware updates but you will experience battery drain.Label Printing: The label printer requires the use of a smartphone app, which is impractical for use in conditions like working on scaffolding. Ideally, one should be able to print labels directly from the measure to their printer but the app middleman is a requirement.Despite its solid build and helpful features, the Tomahawk tape measure's design overlooks practical, real-world use. The calibration and charging systems, in particular, need improvement. I've communicated these issues to the company and received a standard acknowledgment but no substantive follow-up.Rating:While the Tomahawk is not a 1-star product, I felt these real world examples wouldn't be noticed if I gave it a 3 or 4 star review. The mentioned issues might deter some users. This is a real-world review aimed at highlighting the practical aspects of the product.
