I was initially unsure about buying this Hi-Gear 28L Electric Cool Box after reading some of the negative reviews, but I’m very glad I went ahead with it. I bought it to keep milk and a few other essentials cold during an overnight stay at a wedding reception, and it worked perfectly. While travelling in the car, it ran brilliantly from the 12V socket and kept everything nicely chilled throughout the journey. I drive a Nissan Qashqai and had no problem with the size — it fitted behind the seat without any issues. Some reviews mentioned poor design around the plug storage, but in my case, both the mains and 12V plugs slotted back into their compartments easily and securely. There was a small amount of condensation inside, but that’s completely expected with cooling technology like this — nothing excessive and certainly nothing that caused any problems. The build quality feels solid, the handle is sturdy, and overall it performed exactly as described. If you're after a reliable, spacious electric cool box for camping, travelling, or weekend breaks, I’d definitely recommend this one. Don’t be put off by the few negative reviews — it’s a great piece of kit.

Bought for my first electric hook up camping holiday. I must say this was a life saver! Camped on my own with my 7 year old and my dog, so made the camping trip a whole lot easier. It definitely keeps things cool, I had wet dog food, milk, drinks, cheese, two dinners. All perfectly cool, the camp site wasn't far as it was a test if our dog would be ok camping so didn't use the in car hook up. But the 20mins unplugged kept the food cool. It is a bit noisy, but I turned it down at night with the temperature control, with it being a cool night it didn't warm up the food. Overall this is going to be a great bit of kit that can be used not only for camping but long car journeys and picknicks.

Great little cooler. Was not sure about getting one at first as most only go a bit below the outside temp but had this running on a warm day and got down to 4.9 so pretty much a fridge. Kept all the food fresh for a week away camping but at might we would turn it to the lowest setting and put a couple of ice blocks in and turn back up in morning. Great item for the price

Brought this to take camping. We are so happy with it. Its not too loud and keeps everything nice and cool.

Brilliant for camping, keep it shaded from direct sunlight helps keep temperature down, but overall kept milk etc cold, very pleased with purchase.

We bought this for when we travelled abroad and I can say that it kept things cool enough, both food and drink. It's a little noisy, although we found setting the control knob to mid position made the contents too cold. Turning it back reduced the fan noise but food was then only cool. Two reasons for only giving it 4 stars, some sort of temperature indication would have taken away the guesswork and - as others have mentioned - the cable storage is tight and needs careful packing (but is possible). Otherwise it's good for the money, with a decent capacity... you can stand a bottle up in it just fine!
