This stuff is oddly hard to find but I love it.
The SBC Post Alley is my favorite "reasonably priced" blend and I can buy it basically everywhere cheap as a ground coffee, the problem is that I really, really prefer to grind my own both for fineness since I do a pour over and for freshness. I was so happy to see that Amazon finally started carrying this as whole bean direct that I jumped on them and immediately bought 4. If you like your roast dark and smokey without any sourness, this could be your happy place. The closest other option I can find is the TJ's Bay Blend which isn't as smokey but similar in richness and lack of sour bite. I love this coffee and will be hoping it stays in Amazon's rotation permanently as a whole bean coffee.I should add that this is a dark, smokey blend with a bitter cast but no "sour" taste (which is what bothers me about lighter roasts). I've had mellower darks and super darks but I've fallen in love with the smoke in this for some reason. The price doesn't hurt either. That said, I do a pour over on an extra fine grind and use a valve to go for longer extraction, so my tastes may be suspect to traditionalists. If you're sensitive to bitter, be prepared (it's not super bitter but it's there), don't like smoke in your coffee, or like "bright" flavors, move on. If you like dark, strong coffee that's not sour at all and don't mind a bit of bitter and plenty of smoke, you've found a good inexpensive option.

Really flavorfully especially for the price point. More robust than their dark roast.
Bought based on reviews and price point. I use a french press and I grind coarsely, and each use. This has good flavor, with a little bit of robust dark flavor. I then stepped up to the robust "post alley" buying it at the grocer. It was not as flavorful as this level is. I tried the Don Pablano at a robust dark level and this is still more flavorful- and cheaper. I can use up to twice the amount of ground coffee per serving with those two and not get the same flavor as with this. For 5$ this is a flavorful cup, (note- not harsh as Ill made darker coffees are). I'll probably stick with this for a while instead of experimenting any more. I'd love for it to be just a touch darker, bit it is absolutely great for the type and st the price amazing.

Great Budget Cold Brew Coffee
I have been on a quest to find a decent budget coffee so I can stop spending $20 or more for 12oz. of coffee beans. Thought I would try this. I am a big pour over fan, tried this and honestly, it was really not good. Not undrinkable by any means, but it tastes like a burned dark roast. Just right in your face cheap coffee at a diner kind of feel to it. I was bummed. HOWEVER, I thought, lets try a cold brew. And wow, such a difference. Is it a great coffee with cold brew, well no, but for the money, its fantastic. The cold brew changes the flavor from a burned out acidic dark roast java monster to a very smooth, very chocolaty mellow drink. I'm very happy with it. So, in summary, if you want something super cheap for cold brew, absolutely buy this. If you want something for pour over, espresso, slow drip, etc. Buy it still so you can throw it away and make sure no one else has to experience it.

What is better than aromatic, freshly ground and brewed coffee?
Seattle's Best coffee first captured my tastebuds when I visited Oregon about 15 years ago. I was delighted to find robust, freshly brewed coffee on every corner in Portland. Seattle's Best was the bean I liked and was delighted to find it in my local grocery store. Lately, the local store has been out of it and discontinuing many items. Amazon filled the void and the deliveries are reliable, fresh and a welcome arrival. The level 5 is strong and until recently, I drank my coffee strong. There is a level 3 bean that mixes well to produce a milder coffee. Once you get the taste for freshly ground beans, Seattle's Best has great options for a very reasonable price.

Best pre-packaged mass-marketed ground coffee in the US
When I go to the major coffee/espresso-drinking countries, like Finland, Italy and Spain, I go packaged-gourd-coffee-shopping-spree like it’s 1929 because the packaged coffee in the US are generally either pretty bad or inconsistent. Yet, while I love coffee, I don’t like the process of grinding beans (or the mess it creates) and I just don’t have time to be going to specialty coffee stores frequently to buy the beans. Of the packaged coffees mass marketed in the US, this one has definitely been the best. It has consistently been pretty good. Cafe Bustelo comes close, but I somehow find it to be a bit inconsistent (e.g., sometimes, it takes like twigs or maybe pebbles...not that I’ve tasted such things), and brewing illy, in my experience, has been a bit tricky (e.g., can get really bitter if you don’t hit that “sweet spot”). This product, on the other hand, has been consistent and easy to brew.

It kinda reeks but good enough taste.
I think I've only ever had one coffee that smelled worse than this (especially after grinding and during brewing). It's not a very appetizing smell, kinda skunky. It's a little on the bitter side but it pairs well with my morning yogurt. It grinds pretty consistently and was good enough value for money. If you can get over the smell it's probably the best bang for buck you can get on amazon.I usually use it with pour-over which gives a very consistent bloom but I can tell it off-gasses a lot from the bubbles left over. I would not recommend it for an espresso; though it's pretty bitter and leaves a definite after taste.

Excellent coffee for the price
I lived in Seattle in the '90s and everyone knew the Seattle's Best Coffee shops sold much better coffee than Starbucks. Starbucks seemed to know this too so they eventually bought them out -- and there was great sadness. I must admit I haven't tried their coffee beans before, but saw they were highly rated and relatively cheap so thought I would give it a shot. In brief, the coffee is excellent -- still better than the Starbucks coffee and cheaper as well. At least it was, I just went to buy some more (lots more) and the price had risen quite a bit. Maybe I'm not the only one catching on to their value. I'm hoping this is temporary.
