Quality and Efficiency meet Style
So, my previous laptop was starting to show signs of failure, which meant it was time to get a new laptop. I shopped around and looked at reviews. Their were two types people focus when shopping for laptops: the literal on-the-go, compact, multi-day battery types of laptop; the other the high-powered, alternate to your desktop kind of laptop. Out of all the present models I chose the Asus ROG Strix for having an excellent balance of efficiency and power. Now I need to note that this review can't be a direct review of a new laptop as I got mine from Amazon Warehouse (lightly, once used tech resold at a discount). So I do not know what a version of this laptop fresh out-of-the-box is like.I can review how this laptop has been, and so far it has been excellent. It's light-weight and compact yet has a bigger screen than my original 14" laptop. The fans are quiet most of the time and running at top power they are still smooth with minimum noise. It has a descent size touch pad (it does not come with a number pad on it) that is not over-sensitive and works as well as a mouse. As for the batter life, it's unclear how long it can really last (I estimate it at between 4-6 hours without major features running). As for the physical features It comes with two regular USB ports on the right side next to each other, a LAN line port, an HDMI, and two USB-C ports on the left. The body and frame is a solid yet smooth metal-like plastic. It also has an LED light running along the front of the underside. Both that and the keyboard can have their lights and color chanced using ASUS's armory crate app that also lets you control most other features of the computer. All in all I love my new laptop and have been enjoying using it and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a new computer.

Don't buy this PC.
Great gameplay, but too many tweaks and manual settings required to use/keep this gaming laptop.(I got the model w the i9-14900HX and the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4070. 32g RAM.)So firstly... it does definitely play/display games amazingly. I mainly play World of Warcraft and i have all the settings on high and i put an fps can on at 100, and it holds that 100 STEADY like i've pretty much barely ever seen it drop below that yet. Smooth gameplay and the world looks so good on the 18" screen. THE PROBLEM..... if you use Asus's manual settings in their "armoury crate" app which is the software that lets you control fans and power and all that..... eventually this thing will damage itself. I had it on what's supposed to be a "balanced" mode so not too much power usage and no turbos or overclocking on anything, and when it's in that mode it BARELY kicks your fans on! It still was playing great but it let my CPU temp jump up to 87C and it was still climbing but to protect the longevity of this laptop i shut the game and went back to armoury crate. My fix has been throwing it "Manual Mode" and setting my own custom fan curves (I set them to come on much stronger much sooner than the base Asus settings would) and this has helped a LOT. Last night i played WoW for like 4 hours and my CPU temp never exceeded 72 which is really good in game under load temp. But again my point is....... If not for my manual setting..... this laptop would beat itself to death.I'd like to be able to recommend this gaming laptop to other buyers but in my right mind, i can not. Between those awful built in fan/power settings , AND then also the random CPU temp spikes i see while idling (and NO i do NOT have any background apps running lol, anddddd i stopped any unnecessary background tasks/processes as well.) I'll still sometimes see my idle CPU temp randomly jump from 43 (awesome idle temp) up to like 64 (AWFUL idle temp, this is the temp of a pc that's under a moderate load.....not idle.) So between Armoury Crate, fans, power settings and CPU spikes....... i'm sorry but I have to say no, do not purchase this gaming laptop. Save your money and checkout some other companies and hopefully you find something better than this!Hope you appreciate the honest review and good luck in the hunt for a solid gaming PC

Great laptop
So far its been working great, thermals are good with its cooling. The manufacture site states it only supports 32gb RAM but that's in correct. I've installed Crucial RAM 64GB Kit (2x32GB) DDR5 4800MHz CL40 Laptop Memory CT2K32G48C40S5 with no issues all 64GB show up and usable. My only complaint is all the attention went into its performance and screen quality but its speakers are very lacking in sound and quality! I had ordered the Creative Pebble V2 - Minimalistic 2.0 USB-C Powered Desktop Speakers and at 30% volume on those Pebble speakers equaled the laptops speakers volume at 100%. Its got built in Bluetooth that I've used with headphones and its sounds great. Has room inside for a second M.2 drive. You get two usb type a A plugs and two usb type c one of which can be used to supply power to the laptop or fast charge your phone from. Also has an HDMI and LAN port. Over all im pretty happy with it, I have it setting on the IETS GT500 laptop cooler at Idle GPU temp stays at 32c and CPU stays around 40-45c. Playing 7 days to die on steam GPU temps are around 55-57c and CPU stays around 70-78c with spikes upto 85c.Haven't benchmarked it much but on Cinebench R23 the I9-13980HX CPU in this laptop got 3rd scoring 1336 pts on (single core) with the I7-1165G7 taking 1st and 2nd with 1st place score of 1532 pts. It got 2nd in (multicore) with a score of 24514 pts the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990wx had 1st with its score of 30054 in (multicore).
