😵💫📖 This book had me in a chokehold.
No kidding, I was reading it during breakfast ☕, lunch 🍝, dinner 🍽️... basically any moment I could steal. "Just one more chapter" turned into half the book. 😂🤌🏚️🌊 Every page whispered, "You think you've got it figured out?" ...and then laughed in my face. 😭💀 Every new clue sent me chasing a brand-new theory, only for the next chapter to completely wreck it. 🧩🤯😱 The atmosphere is so haunting and deliciously creepy that you can almost hear the house breathing. Every secret pulled me deeper, and I was OBSESSED. 🕯️🖤💥 And that ending?! EXCUSE ME?! I pride myself (though sometimes 😉) on guessing thriller twists... but this one absolutely humbled me. 😵👏 I never saw it coming, not even for a second.📚 If you love thrillers that slowly sink their claws into you 🦅 and refuse to let go until the very last page, this is IT.Riley Sager, you got me. 🙇♀️🔥⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 🌟

Decent One Time Read
The final reveal and twist were good, and the story had a strong start. However, as it progressed, too much started happening at once. In my opinion, many of the setups didn't receive satisfying payoffs by the end. Also I didn't liked the ending. Overall, it was an okay-to-good read.

One of my favourite books of all time
“The Only One Left” by Riley Sager is a captivating gothic thriller that intertwines elements of mystery, suspense, and psychological drama. Set in 1983, the narrative follows Kit McDeere, a caregiver with a tarnished reputation, who is assigned to look after Lenora Hope—a woman accused of murdering her family in 1929. Lenora, now incapacitated and unable to speak, resides in the decaying mansion known as Hope’s End, perched precariously on a cliff’s edge. As Kit assists Lenora in typing out her story, she becomes deeply entangled in the dark secrets of the Hope family and the ominous history of the mansion.Sager masterfully crafts an atmospheric setting reminiscent of classic gothic tales, drawing parallels to works like “The Fall of the House of Usher” and “Rebecca.” The novel alternates between Kit’s present-day experiences and Lenora’s typewritten accounts, effectively building suspense and keeping readers on edge. The characters are intricately developed, each harboring their own secrets, adding depth to the unfolding mystery.Critical reception has been largely positive. Kirkus Reviews describes it as “an entertaining thriller,” noting its ability to evoke classic gothic elements while delivering unexpected twists.Similarly, a review from Criminal Element praises the novel as “a masterclass in atmospheric suspense,” highlighting Sager’s skill in crafting a story where “no detail can be taken for granted.”In summary, “The Only One Left” offers a richly atmospheric and suspenseful journey into a family’s dark past, set against the backdrop of a haunting mansion. While the novel excels in building tension and developing complex characters, some readers may find the climax stretches plausibility. Nonetheless, fans of gothic thrillers and intricate mysteries are likely to find this book a compelling read.

I had seen many people suggest this book on social media and I thought it would be a fun read. Well it turned out to be so much more than I could have ever expected!!!Ok so here is the plot of this. It takes place in 1983 when Kit McDeere, a caretaker is hired to take care of Lenora Hope. She is mute caused by many strokes.Lenora Hope is very well known in the town and lives on the coast of Maine. Now what she is known for is killing her mother, father and sister. However it was never proven, the town is in agreement she did it.Kit, who is hired to live in the house and take care of her to replace the last nurse that just took off one night.Kit then learns that Lenora can communicate by using a typewriter with her one arm. Lenora tells Kit, “I will tell you everything.”With clues from Lenora’s story and clues from the other employees that work at the house, Kit starts to work towards what happened that night Lenora Hope, allegedly killed her family.Nothing is what it seems and just when you think you have it figured out…….HELL NO YOU’RE WRONG!!!!This book has more twists than a corkscrew. It was fantastic, and when the mystery is finally revealed, you are like “WTF!!” Can’t recommend this enough. Just all around fantastic!!! Get this book!!!!
