Spoke to PCupgrade to confirm that it was suitable to replace the graphics card in my Dell XPS 8500 running Windows 7. I found them to be very helpful. I was a bit disconcerted at first when the new card arrived as it has cooling fins rather than the fan as shown in the picture. However installation was straightforward and is working well. As an aside the installation disc comes with a file called Kombustor. This is for those who wish to overclock the card for improved gaming but one of the ways is to profile with the fan speeds not possible with cooling fins.

Very noisy fan. Failed totally after 18 months. A waste of good money.

Impressive spec but the reality is different
I bought this to replace my Radeon HD 4650 thinking that I would be able to squeeze a bit more performance out of my Dell Dimension E520. That was a mistake. Although the Windows performance measurement for 3D graphics went up from 5.1 to 6.1, which is an improvement, my Desktop Graphics Performance plummeted down from 5.1 to an atrocious 3.1. I tried windows updates and NVidea updates and this increased the Desktop Graphics Performance to a luke warm 3.9 so I'm still really no better off. Add to this that the graphics output of the card is annoyingly fuzzy (I'm used to very crisp, albeit slower, graphics) giving me no choice but to replace the card again because it's giving me a headache. I've now replaced the 300W power supply with a 500W one so it should give me more options. The bottom line: Putting this card in a lower spec machine might well be a great improvement but for me it was a mistake. I'm very disappointed with it as it was for me a quite big step backwards.Update:I've revised my opinion of this card. The Windows speed rating seems to be way too pessimistic. I have since found that this card is performing well beyond the performance of my Radeon HD 4650 despite the Windows rating. I'm not sure what's going on there but this card, although not the fastest of the bunch, is still actually quite an improvement speed wise. I'm running Windows 8 and it is perceptibly faster, and as an SL visitor (the only "game" I partake of) I can now run 2 viewer windows without the second being jerky when mouse focus is on the first (and vice versa). BBC iPlayer seems a bit more spritely too and TED lectures are very good quality. Still a little disappointed at the visual clarity of my second (VGA) monitor and that is a symptom of the bandwidth of the card's VGA output not being as high as the Radeon HD 4650. I have a much more beefy card on order (Asus 2GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GTX650Ti Boost) having been a bit put off by this one but I wanted to correct some of my first impressions. This card may well suit you if you are limited for power supply and have a moderate speed PC that needs an upgrade, and you will use it with a DVI monitor.
