I've always dreamed of having a Japanese Katana sword! When I saw this sword I had to have it! Well, I now have it, and all I can say is WOW!!! AMAZING!!!This handmade Katana sword is impressive from EVERY angle! I can't begin to tell you how impressed I am! I'll admit I'm a bit afraid of it, but BOY DOES IT LOOK GREAT! My only problem with this sword is where can I best display it? Everything about this Katana sword is awesome. I can't wait until my friends see it! The blade is frighteningly sharp! BE CAREFUL! This is no toy. It is the real thing!Most everything about it is black. There are some blue accents in the hilt. The tsuba is golden and looks jiust great! It comes with a beautiful scabbard, too! My wife may take some convincing... But this sword is destined for my living room wall over the fireplace. I can't wait to see it up there! It will REALLY dress up my living room!

I should start by saying that the biggest downside for me is the aesthetics of the blade. However, the product photo is extremely accurate in showing what the blade looks like. Therefore, you can determine whether you like the aesthetics before placing an order. While the product photos show a stand, the product description on the first line mentions that a stand is not included. As for the construction, it feels good in the hand and doesn't rattle after some use chopping some stuff. The sharpness of the blade was able to chop a water bottle cleanly. In fact, the only defect I found was on the sheath, where the paint bubbled a little bit, but that was all I could find. I think the sheath is very good-looking and I plan on hanging it up sheathed. So, if you or someone you know ever just wanted a real sword to goof off with and hang up, this is a decent option. Just remember, this is a sharp sword.

It includes sword and sheath, not the stand - which is now clearly explicitly stated in the description.It's definitely sharp - and the blade looks just like the picture, with a neat pattern on it. The sheath and handle are plastic, but well made, a nice pattern, and wrapped with cord in what I assume is a traditional way. Definitely something that will make a nice exhibit in my display cabinets once I figure out a way to display it well.I'm a martial artist, but not of a style that uses the katana - the swords we use are quite different. But I can say, it feels quite well balanced for the hand and easy to hold. Worked with it a bit after a big arm work out, and it was still quite comfortable for a short period. Mileage will vary if you do a Japanese art that actually uses a katana, as I'm sure there are nuances I'm not aware of.

The katana came well packaged, the entire thing was sealed in plastic, then Styrofoam, then more plastic.The blade came pre-oiled.It says multiple times that it is very sharp. I'd disagree, I've gotten sharper swords before.The laser etched pattern is not as nice looking up close as it is in the pictures on the listing. It looks more painted on than etched.As for the price, it seems high, you can get katana's at fairs for a quarter of the price.But if you want a decorative katana this will fill work for that.

This is a beautiful katana sword with a 28 inch blade length and an overall length of 40 inches. The blade has a beautiful pattern etched onto it and the blade edge on the katana that I received was surprisingly sharp. The sheath/scabbard is made from wood and it doesn't appear to have any decorative buffalo horn used on either end. The hand guard/tsuba is fantastic looking and there's two notches on the guard that align with the edge of the bade and the spine of the blade. The notches on the guard reminds me of iron sights on a firearm when you look down the edge and spine of the blade. The handle has white imitation ray skin with gold ornaments/menuki and the braid wrap is pretty tight with little movement. The handle end cap/fuchi is firmly positioned with little movement and the design appears to be two species of birds. Overall I think this is an excellent katana for the price and I would definitely recommend.

Let me mention a few important features for anyone considering purchasing thisKatana. First, the Kashira (pemmel) the Menuki (ornament in the handle) Seppa (spacers)Tsuba (guard) and the Habaki (collar) are all made of metal. They are not plastic. Even theornamentation on the guard are metal. Second, the Tsuka (handle) is well wrapped and tiedand comfortable to hold. Third, the dragon scale design does appear painted on the bladerather than etched, but I see that as a good thing because the etching or engraving will notcompromise the integrity of the blade. Fourth, the Katana is well balanced and although moreornamental in nature it is very functional. The Saya (scabbard) is wood and the only issue isthat the Kojiri (end cap) and Koiguchi (mouth) are plastic. However, overall this is a wellconstructed and artistically designed Katana.

Reasonably sharp, but not consistent on its sharpness throughout the blade. Definitely not razor sharp.Handle decoration looks good, but is a bit slippery.Personally, I'm not a fan of the three ornate metal decorations being all different while being in close proximity. This, in my opinion greatly cheapens the impression of the sword. It's like wearing gold earrings with pearls at the same time as a diamond on asilver neclace.The handle has a silver design/emblem under the black webbing. Then just above that is the hilt which is a weathered brass color, then just above that is a 1 plus inch swath of copper as the connection to the blade.At the bottom of the handle is another silver emblem near to the endcap which is weathered brass.The blade itself is a deep blue, with a gold honeycomb pattern and it looks cool.The sheath seems nice! But yet again, the sheath introduces a fourth metal.. a gold colored piece.Overall, I don't love it.I wish it was razor sharp, or at least uniformly sharp.
