Mortar and Pestle Set 5" - 2 cup capacity - Molcajete Grinder guacamole stone bowl and pestle

This is every thing that it claims to be. What I did not foresee is that the shape of the pestle, slightly flared with a slightly curved grinding area of about one and half square inches, would make grinding basil leaves for pesto a real chore. It does fine with emusifying pine nuts and garlic, though, so agliata should work and I suspect guacamole would be okay, too.I generally like stainless steel, but in this case the smooth texture is working at cross purposes when trying to grind basil leaves.I've ordered a marble mortar and beechwood pestle, which is quite a bit more expensive. If I had to do it over over I would not buy this stainless steel mortar and pestle, given my intended purpse.

Overall, it is a decent buy, but I'm taking 1 star away because the end of the pestle is flat and not round. With the flat tip of the pestle, it is great for pounding on spices, but it won't do a good job of grinding.

Like having the lid on top to keep things from coming out the top. Works just like it should!

We're using it as a pill crusher and it works very well. We crush seven pills at a time for g- tube feeding and we can get a very fine powder with this. Very easy to wash out. So much better than a pill mill.

Absolutely LOVE!!! Looks amazing and also came with a spoon which I was not expecting. Literally made guacamole in it the day I got it. Haven’t tried to ground any herbs or spices yet though.

It looks great, works fine, got it because it is dishwasher safe. But, water seeps into it and never comes out from the dishwasher, even the pestle somehow, so that is pretty disappointing.

This is a very sturdy set; I cant get over how heavy it is and I dont have to worry about it getting damaged any time soon!! Excellent!! Reasonable price, too!!
