Rio Bravo + 8 Bonus Tracks Original Soundtrack

"Rio Bravo" is a crowd pleasing western starring John Wayne, Dean Martin, Walter Brennan, and Ricky Nelson with a memorable musical interlude at about the half way mark. That little more than four minute scene in which Martin, Nelson and Brennan sing to pass the time contains much of the material that forms this CD. If you haven't seen it, picture Dean Martin, lying on a cot, legs bent and crossed, with his cowboy hat covering his face, cigarette in hand lazily taking the lead in a croon of "My Rifle, My Pony and Me" while Ricky Nelson strums a guitar and lends a vocal assist. Dino never looked or sounded "cooler" and the blend with Nelson is so good that for me this scene has, over the years, been worth the whole movie.On the CD you get the soundtrack version of "My Rifle, My Pony and Me" preceded by an introduction from John Wayne himself. There are also two studio versions of the song; a solo by Dino and a duet with Ricky. You also get Martin's recording of the song "Rio Bravo" as well as "Del Guello", a stylish instrumental by the Nelson Riddle orchestra of a tune that figures prominently into the film.Ricky Nelson solos on two studio versions of "Cindy" and joins Martin and Walter Brennan for the film version of the song. Although not used in the movie Ricky's 1958 recording of "Restless Kid" wraps up the ten tracks all in excellent sound quality.Any fan of the movie will love this CD!

I got this expecting that it was a complete score recording, but it isn't. It lacks the one thing I was hoping it would have: the first minute of the film, when Dean Martin enters the saloon and we hear a compelling guitar tune playing in the background. That tune--which is actually Dmitri Tiomkin reprising his main theme from BLOWING WILD (1953)--isn't on this album, and what does purport to be the "Opening" preceding the "Spittoon" moment is music that, in the film, actually follows the spittoon incident. Except for that, this is a pretty good rendering of the score of this classic western and definitely a worthwhile collector's item.

I'm used to the typical soundtrack of classic 1950/60s western films. They are presented on vinyl, limited to the number of grooves vinyl offer [no K-Tel type pressings]. What sets this soundtrack apart is the number of different versions of the film's primary songs:~My Rifle, My Pony and Me~Rio Bravo~CindyEight in all; for those three songs. With a total of 68 tracks, one couldn't ask for a more COMPLETE film score. Bravo for those involved in creating this musical masterpiece and listening pleasure.

PERFECT! There are so many versions of My Rifle, My Pony and Me on this that you'll adopt your favorite quickly. LOVE the movie version of course and it IS the movie version with the Dean Martin "The sun is sinking in the west..." intro. I've had some without that and it's just not the same. There's also a version of it intro'd by The Duke. Cindy Cindy is included with Walter Brennan and with just a version by Ricky. The film version is what I'm used to so I prefer it but it's all a lot of fun. These ARE the songs from the film and De Guillo is from the film but there are many versions of it in the movie so this is the only one on the CD. Finally found it, so happy I ordered it!

This is absolutely the best available collection of Dimitri Tiomkin's memorable scores for Westerns. Equally important is the sound quality which is often so disappointing in other available collections. Even the soundtrack selections lifted from the actual films themselves come across with a freshness in very good remastered Red Book sound, in contrast say to the sonic abortion of Unicorn-Kanchana's far more limited compilation by Laurie Johnson and the London Studio Symphony Orchestra, which ruins an otherwise worthwhile effort.No question then, this 24-bit, 2CD offering entitled "Rio Bravo," wins the palm for Tiomkin's great, unforgettable Western music. It's simply wonderful!

Good songs from the movie

I enjoyed this CD I have been wanting this sound tract for this Movie for a long time. It is the most though that I have ever paid for a CD for that few of songs. I knew that it would be simply because of the availability of finding it.

I bought this cd for my father as he loves the movie.....he is very happy with with the cd.

先にIntrada盤を購入した。送料込4,581円と高価で内容も不満だった。今回買い直したSoundtrack Factoryのものは送料込2,015と半額以下で内容も充実しており、24bit remasterの音質も向上し大いに満足した。内容については先ずリッキー・ネルスンが主体で歌う「シンディ」が追加された。さらにボーナス・トラックには「皆殺しの歌」のstudio・version盤であるネルスン・リドル楽団、マニー・クラインのトランペットのご機嫌な曲が追加されおまけにリッキー・ネルスンの「シンディ」、ディーン・マーティンとネルスンがデュオで歌う「ライフルと愛馬」が未知のLP盤から収録されている。これらはintradaには収録されておらず、音源としても貴重なものである。音質についてはボーナス・トラックの一部がステレオの外はモノラルなので著しい向上とはなっていないが、それでも良好になっているのは感じられる。結論として、このSoundtrack Factory盤がRio Bravoサントラの決定版であり買うならこちらが絶対にお勧めだ！

皆殺しのトランペットと挿入歌が多バージョン入っていて完璧。この映画が大好きな両親の為に購入。
