I have a 10 yr old grandson that loves to play Chess when he visits. We live in FL and spend a lot of time with outdoor activities. Now, with these perfect size cheese pieces, we play Chess out in the garden and make wonder memories! They are the perfect play size and weight to use on a Jumbo Checker cloth board we have. Well make and great price!

While they are advertised as weighted, they’re not as heavy as I expected, which is the only reason for the 4-star rating. That said, for the price, they’re a great value, and I’m overall happy with the purchase.

The set is “weighted” but only single weighted. Also the rook is undersized. It is a fairly well known and understood sizing aspect of the chess pieces that their size is somewhat proportional to their power or importance. Pawns the smallest relative to the other pieces and the king (the most important piece) and the queen (the most powerful piece) the largest. In the middle are the rooks, knights and bishops. The knights and bishops are considered “minor pieces” and the rooks major. So the rooks are proportionally larger and thicker because of their power. In this set though the rooks are woefully undersized. Overall the set is a decent set for the price, but there are many better options that are not that much more expensive to get correct proportions and double or triple weighting.

Heavy duty! They are not made of light weight material.

Surprised how great these pieces were for the price. Being weighted is a plus, nice felt pads on the bottom. Also two storage bags included and extra Queen for both Black and White pieces. I would buy again.

First, the basics: this came with everything it was supposed to come with. Extra queens, all chess pieces. They're made of smooth plastic and look like standard tournament chess pieces (rather than being stylized in some unusual manner). They have green felt on the bottom and none of the felt pieces came off immediately which is a good start.They come in two drawstring bags which seem reasonably sturdy and well constructed.Evidently they have some kind of weight so that they're not just plastic but it's a little hard to tell. They're light but not so light that I expect to have problems knocking them over.While some people suggest that they're best for a board with 1.5 inch squares, my old 1" 80s chessboard (depicted in the photo works fine too, but I wouldn't go much smaller.As far as value goes, this is a value set of chess pieces, not a luxury one and it's in the lower end of Amazon prices but not the absolute bottom. There may (or may not) be a better deal out there but at least at the moment, these offer a solid, basic set of chess pieces at a decent price.I received a free set of chess pieces through Amazon Vine in return for an unbiased review.
