Valvoline Restore & Protect Full Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil 1 Quart

The Valvoline Restore & Protect Full Synthetic 5W-30 has been one of the best motor oils I’ve used in a higher-mileage vehicle. After a few oil changes, the engine felt noticeably smoother and quieter, especially during cold starts. Throttle response improved slightly, and idle became more consistent as well. What really stands out is the cleaning performance. This oil is designed to help remove deposits and prevent future buildup, and it seems to actually deliver. My engine runs cleaner, and oil consumption appears lower compared to some other synthetic oils I’ve tried. It also holds up very well between oil changes without breaking down or getting excessively dark too quickly. The 5-quart jug is convenient, easy to pour, and priced competitively for a full synthetic with advanced additives. If you want a high-quality oil that not only protects your engine but also helps restore performance over time, this is an excellent choice. I’ll definitely continue using it for future oil changes.

This is the most amazing oil I have ever used. As a previous mechanic and current auto enthusiast, I am very picky about what I use in my vehicle. I tried this on a car I planned on trading in for about a year before getting rid of it and it really made a difference in quieting down the lifters and valve train. Looking internally to the engine I found that this does clean and dissolve varnish internally while also retaining its viscosity. I was impressed by the improvement in how smoothly it made that car run until trading it in. I've been using it in my new to me 20 year old used car I bought which has low mileage and runs great. Using this oil has only made it run better. Quieter, smoother, etc. I have used RP, Mobil 1, Pennzoil, and more. This one is my new number one that I plan on sticking with for the life of my vehicle.

Great oil! Saw plenty of YouTube videos about this oil. I have a 2019 F-150 2.7 engine. It has dual turbos if you don’t know about Ford engines. Lots of YouTube people recommend this oil and did some before and after videos. Yes there very much improvement from the carbon deposits being pretty much gone. There is one catch you need to do a minimum of 4 oil changes for the stuff to really work. I am currently on 2 and yes I can see my dip stick much cleaner and the truck feels better with acceleration and gas mileage has gone up a little bit as well. Even their competition Mobil 1 has gotten into the game and launch their version as well. I plan on sticking with this and then switching to Pennzoil ultra platinum as project farm video says it’s the best bang for you buck oil.

Hadn’t done an oil change in 14 months. Plus, moved last year, using my 01 Chevy for 98% of the move. Did I mention she has 260k on her?! Last month, I hear a metallic ticking at start-up. Hoping lifter spring wasn’t worn—I may have lucked out. After doing the oil change with this stuff, lifter pressurizes/doesn’t stick. NO MORE NOISE! Great stuff that probably saved me a bit of money at the repair shop. Truck fires right up, quiet, idles smoothly. Highly recommend this oil for older engines!

Since I change my own oil, I treat myself to the more premium oils. Used Mobil 1 Extended Performance for several years. That oil would get noisy around 9K miles. Used Pennzoil Ultra after that. A little better, usually ran it about 10-13K miles. Now I use Valvoline Restore and Protect. I'm mainly just using it to see if it helps with oil consumption. My car started burning oil after the engine crossed about 200K miles. I've used it about 20K miles, and I think it does help. Not like eliminate oil burn, but burn a little less. My car would originally would burn maybe a quart the first 5K miles, then a half quart every 1K miles after that. I'd top it off with Supertech 10w-40 (my car takes 5w-20, but I went to 5w-30 when it started burning oil). Now it burns maybe half a quart to a quart the first 5K miles, then burns like 1/4 of a quart every 800-1,000 miles. So I do need to top it off still, but I think it has helped somewhat with the oil burn. For $12 more a jug compared to Supertech conventional, the extra money is worth it for synthetic and helping with the oil burn. My father has a 2000 Chevy Prizm (rebadged Toyota Corolla). His car has an inherent issue where the pistons get clogged and it burns like 1 quart every 500 miles. I've put about 6 quarts of Restore and Protect through that car so far, and haven't seen any change yet. I'm going to run it for a year and see what happens. So I think it works, just don't expect miracles.

Really helped reduce sludge from the valve cover area. After 3 changes, I pulled the drain pan and was very pleased with the condition of it. 2018 V6 Nissan Frontier with 85k miles.

Personally it has stopped my 185,000 mile, 16 year old Subaru EJ253 engine from consuming/burning oil in just 2 3,000 mile interval oil changes. I was previously burning about a quart of oil every 1,000 miles before using the Valvoline restore and protect and it has already done its job and then some. Not only have I stopped consuming oil, I’ve seen roughly a +3mpg increase compared to the times I’ve used and tracked MPG while using Shell Rotella T6 and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum; it doesn’t end there either as I regularly check my engine oil dipstick out of habit because the car used to burn oil and I had to stay on top of the oil level. Upon checking my oil level at 1,000 miles into the second oil change I was shocked to see how clean the Valvoline oil was on the sides of the dipstick, using other oils and checking them at that interval has always had my oil looking quite black and dirty just 1000 miles after a change, this was not the case with the restore and protect; it came out at 1000 miles looking very clean, translucent and not discolored. I can’t recommend this product enough, especially at the price point compared to competitors; I will always have a jug of this stuff in the garage.

Too soon to say whether its cleaning inside as it suggests 4 oil changes to show the effect. But the oil definitely made the engine noticeably quieter, smoother, and reduced the fluctuating revs I had due to the sludge (which I am hoping to clean by this oil). So its definitely effective in getting control of the internal lubrication requirements.

I used this oil in my snowblower and have been happy with the performance so far. The engine runs smoothly, starts easily in colder weather, and seems a bit quieter compared to older oil I was using before.
