Did not know what to expect because of some mixed reviews and the low price. Very pleasantly surprised, as it turned out. At first, I wondered why the units would not fit in their plastic mounts correctly, then realized that they would fit correctly once the 3 AA batteries were installed. So I guess the idea was that the manufacturer didn't want the units to be installed without batteries! Mounting plate was fine and not as flimsy as I had been led to believe, and the screws were also fine. The only reason the units did not get a five-star rating is because the batteries were ultra cheap carbon zinc that would probably last only a year. It wouldn't have cost that much more to put in some decent alkaline cells. All in all, very happy with the purchase, although I don't know if they actually work until I have a smokey or CO event...

Perfect smoke alarm. For added value it even has carbon monoxide detector. Just the right size. Gives me peace of mind.

Less than 1 year old. Alarm is falsely activating to indicate CO present at 36-42ppm while others in the area register 0ppm. Replaced batteries, cleaned unit with air, placed outside in open air 60yds away from house or any possible emission and alarm triggers after 20-40 minutes there as well. No clear way to submit a warranty claim and JNHCD site seems to be MIA other than distribution. As I read reviews the negative suggest these aren’t reliable. Rather find out now than too late during an emergency.

directions are easy to follow and install is easy.. just be mindful of where you drill the holes and take it easy snapping it into place
