I thought this was supposed to be rubber wood so it could be played indoors also but it is hard wood. Is there another set that contains softer pieces

Rubberwood is a medium density hardwood that comes from the tropical rubber tree. It's not a soft rubbery product like one thinks of when you hear the word rubber.

It is untreated wood. We have only used it in dry grass, so no problems with the wood condition. It has picked up grass stains. I do know others that have treated their sets.
