Marked “Like New” but it was all written up inside.
This is more for the accuracy of the posting. I don’t mind used books but this was horribly used and even had torn pages.

Key item - it makes the curriculum complete
Get this book. The workbook and textbook are not enough. Yea, you can figure it out it’s beginner math but your child will miss out on the activities that show maths relevance to life. Do not regret ordering this! My child has improved in his math in less than a week.

Very Important - I'm so glad I bought it after all.
Because of my strong math background (I'm an engineer-turned-homeschool mom), at first I didn't think I would need an Instructor's Guide for 1st grade math (how hard could it be, really?). But I'm so glad I listened to other reviewers and got this book. Not only does it contain lesson plans and Mental Math review exercises, it explains the methodology of the Singapore Method. If you only use the Textbook and Workbook, but don't do the lessons outlined in the Instructor's Guide, you will NOT be using the Concrete -> Pictoral -> Abstract approach that makes Singapore so successful. All the instructions for Concrete lessons are in this book. Even if you have a strong math background (and especially if you don't!), definitely follow the lesson plans in this book if you want to reap all the benefits of this curriculum.

I purchased this to go along with the workbooks and textbook for the matching set. It was very helpful for giving additional ideas and techniques to teach the lessons. You could just use the books but this book provided me with the extra confidence and information I needed to feel that I was giving my child the best lesson possible. How to reiterate things and just give you a little boost. I was confident in teaching the lesson but the information provided here made it that much better. Definitely will purchase the teaching guide for the next set of books.

Best for kindergarten math
My daughter, elementary school teacher, recommended this series for homeschooling my granddaughter. Unfamiliar with Singapore math, it took some study to be adequately prepared to teach it. It is by far the best way to teach math! My granddaughter is doing great with it and is getting a much better math foundation —- learning concepts, not just processes—- for her later years in math.

Item was in perfect condition. Provides clear instructions on assignments as well as fun games you can play in addition to the lessons. After getting this HIG, I really can't imagine teaching any of the other levels of Singapore curriculum without one!

Almost a must have!
Clear directions with a lot of extra info to use to teach your child that is not in the workbook or textbook. I found this to be extremely helpful. Lots of fun games with each lesson. It has enhanced our math lessons a great deal.I consider this a must have but I know many parents who would skip it to save a few bucks. It is worth it.

I will update as the year progresses but this is an absolutle necessity to our homeschooling. I was not taught math in this way so it is great to have everything laid out in front of me and helps me stay organized with which learning tool I may need.
