Excellent teaching tool
I purchased this textbook & the accompanying activity book a few weeks ago. The two books are AWESOME! Well worth the price. The combination of books is like a real school curriculum. It is thorough, detailed & easy to use. The first unit was easy for my son, but the second unit is starting to provide him with a challenge. Yet it is not overwhelming. Looking forward through the book, I believe this will continue to be the case.I do believe that this is a true kindergarten level book. However, I am using this book with my 3 & 1/2 year old. He has a talent for mathematical concepts. I would not recommend this for an average 3 & 1/2 year old. However, if your child can count (not just say 1 - 10, but actually count objects & tell you how many there are), knows his numbers (can visually recognize numbers 1 to 10), can draw straight lines, can listen & follow directions, and can sit still & focus for about 10 minutes at a time. Then I think you can use this book.I do think that you need the textbook. The activity book only provides one or two pages on each topic. The textbook provides many more pages of practice and more information for parents. If you are simply looking to supplement what your child is learning in school, then the activity book alone would be fine. However, if I were only buying one of these books it would be the textbook. The textbook is filled with activities for your child. The textbook has a nice progression from parent/child discussion & concrete manipulation (they provide a small paragraph explaining what to do with your child) to abstract forms of the concept. The activity book has very little explanation, which is fine if you have the textbook, but if you don't it may be confusing. The best thing about these books is that my son LOVES them. After dinner last night he begged my husband to work with him, because "Daddy hasn't done them yet". They did 5 or 6 pages & my son still wanted to do more. My husband and I had to make him stop. I try not to let him work too long b/c I don't want him to get tired & frustrated. We have other "school" books, but he usually picks these up first.Content of textbook: Unit 1 is all matching & sorting. There are 9 lessons & a review. Unit 2 is numbers to 5. There are 14 lessons & a review. The lessons include counting objects and matching them to numbers. Building various shapes with blocks. Counting objects & coloring blocks to indicate the number (like a graph). Tracing numbers & shapes. Writing numbers. Counting & writing numbers. Reading picture graphs & writing number answers. Unit 3 is numbers 6 - 10. Unit 4 is counting in order (introduces a number line). Unit 5 is shapes. Unit 6 is patterns. Unit 7 is length & size (this unit appears to be really well done - we haven't gotten that far - I would have purchased the books for this unit alone). Unit 8 is weight (also impressive). Unit 9 is capacity. Unit 10 is comparing sets. And then there is a glossary.Content of activity book: The activity book units are the same as the textbook. The back of the activity book has cutouts which your child glues onto the activity pages. Not every page uses cutouts, but a lot of them do. Unit 1 has 5 activities. Unit 2 has 5. Unit3 has 5. Unit 4 has 4. Unit 5 has 7. Unit 6 has 7. Unit 7 has 5. Unit 8 has 5. Unit 9 has 5. Unit 10 has 4 activities.

Best maths book for little ones I have ever seen
I am doing it with my three year old - and she loves it. Her older siblings are both jealous and say she has the most interesting book (we are homeschooling). The illustrations are good, the book is well built, it goes gradually, not too fast but without drilling and provides enough practice, helps the child grasp concepts it later needs to build an understanding of numbers and quantities. The teacher guide provides consise and easy to follow instruction, it is well organised and well thought through. Each lesson is made up of games and a fun task or two from the book. The length of each lesson is perfect for the little ones. Activity book is a great addition to this and there are also math readers, posters and hands on materials. However the textbook can also be used independently.

My four year old was eager to 'do homeschool' like her older sibling
My four year old was eager to 'do homeschool' like her older sibling. This math book is perfect for a child that is just learning their numbers. It is very basic, I though it might be appropriate for my 5.5 year old but it was way too easy. It does require that the child can write, count to ten, and draw straight lines. I only wish that it had a little more practice but it's fine the way it is. The pages are colorful and engaging. My daughter is eager to move on to the next lesson so I am happy.

Awesome for the Summer
We use this as a pre-Kindergarten primer. The lessons are short enough for preschoolers and can be easily accomplished with an adult's help. This book is great for over the summer to get kids ready to start the school year on the right foot. It prepared our daughters' understandings of numeracy etc. so that they could thrive in a Common Core-aligned classroom.

Colorful, enjoyable math resource
This is an excellent math resource with beautiful, fun illustrations. This provides a wonderful introduction to mathematics and further abstract thinking. It does not over-drill the child and exasperate him/her. My daughter looks forward to math time.

best k-level book out there
Very simple, very gradual, beautiful illustrations, engaging. I have taught two children basic path with the Singapore Math books. My 4 year old finished the K-level books and my 6-year old is working on the 4A-level book. Highly recommend this series. However, note, while they are a great lead, the parent need to supplement. I make up problems until the concepts are solidified after we have learned the concepts through the books. Remember-practice makes perfect, this book is good because of its illustrations and content.

Great Curriculum
My 4 year old daughter loves this. We have been using it for about two months, and she begs me to do more lessons. She is enrolled in a preschool, and I wanted to supplement her learning at home. She has been going through the curriculum quickly, so it is not too challenging for a four year old who is interested in numbers. She enjoys the pictures which help keep her interest.I don't have any curriculum to compare it to, but she does enjoy this workbook compared to the other one we are working through, The Reading Lesson.

Great teaching tool for the active child
My child has a short attention span especially when it comes to school work. This book keeps interest with bright colors and activities that do not take too long nor are the activities too repetitive.

Fantástico
Un libro de matemáticas ameno y divertido para los niños. Mi hija adora hacer matemáticas. Para los niños a partir de 3 años me parece un libro muy útil. Muy recomendable.
