Seems to be dead-on accurate and worth the money
I just got this scale. I gave it a few tests, but will update this review after a few more weeks of usage. So far, this thang is 100 % accurate. I tested it with some dumbells, cans of food, and other items that had confirmed, exact weights. The scale is very accurate, and provides the SAME result each time. I mixed things up a bit, changing dumbells and cans around in different configurations, to ensure that the scale wasn't "remembering" a previous reading. It gives the same reading for the same collection of objects even when given differently-weighted stuff to weigh in between readings. That is all you can ask for from a scale - accuracy. It is accurate. Note: some of the reviews below talk about the scale measuring to the 10th of a pound. That isn't correct - it measures to the 0.2 of a pound. Of course, anyone (like myself) buying an expensive scale probably has bigger fish to fry on the dieting front than worrying about .1 vs .2 pound resolution. This scale feels solid and well-made -- I mean really solid and durable. Sure, it's expensive, no denying that. Just remember that if you're trying to lose weight, two things you absolutely must have are an accurate body scale and an accurate food/kitchen scale. No long term project can succeed without measurement and monitoring of the results. It's worth the money to be able to measure and monitor weight-loss very accurately and to have confidence in the measurements. My previous scale would give me 3 different results if I got on the scale three times in succession, and none of the results mapped to my doctor's scale. This one gives the same result each time - we'll have to see about how it maps to the doctor scale, but from my tests, my sense is that if it doesn't map to the doctor scale, it's the doctor who needs a new scale. This baby is dead-on. UPDATE 12/6: OK, my wife and I have now been using and testing this scale for six days. This thing is, simply, amazingly accurate. Successive readings are ALWAYS exactly the same. You can take 10 readings in a row and they will all be the same - not "close", but the "same". You can alternate people on successive readings to try to throw it off, but that doesn't work. It still gives the exact correct weight for each person. If you put on a sweater that weighs 1.2 pounds, it will read exactly 1.2 pounds heavier when you get back on the scale. When you take the sweater off, it'll deduct exactly 1.2 pounds on the next reading. There is no way to shake this scale off its game - it's very precise. This is the best scale I've ever owned, the first one I've had confidence in, and the first time I could honestly say I was "happy" about a bathroom scale. Throw out whatever you have (unless it's a high-end doctor scale, like with the little sliding weights) and buy this one. This definitely goes in the "you get what you pay for" category.

Get this Tanita scale! Finally, a scale that isn’t junk!
A very short review by someone who has reviewed a lot of electronic devices over the years: Stop your scale shopping and buy this Tanita scale! This is the real deal. It’s built like they used build things—to last. It doesn’t have a bunch of high tech functions—most of which on other scales can’t be trusted. It has five separate memory buttons and can remember the previous weight of up to five people. It weighs to a tenth of a pound, and it also measures in kilograms and stone. The LCD isn’t backlit, but it’s large enough and easy to read. The scale has a solid plastic top, but underneath, the base is metal. Remember when they made items from metal? Pay the extra money. It’s worth it. Other scales today last a couple years and die for no good reason. This won’t. Do something good for yourself and get a high-quality scale that’s accurate and does one thing exceptionally well and not 15 things miserably.

Exactly What I Hoped It Would Be
I spent a lot of time deciding which scale to order. I'm a runner and have been trying to steadily lose weight to get my personal record in a 5k and 10k. In order to do that, I'm trying to gradually get down to a running weight that will help me shave off seconds on my PR. In any event, this Tanita scale won me over because I read multiple reviews on reputable sites about how accurate but also, perhaps more importantly, how precise this scale is. Here's what I like about this scale: PROS: 1) Super accurate and precise 2) Very good looking white color and design (this mattered more for my wife than for me) 3) Made by a manufacturer with a strong reputation Here's what I don't love, but can live with: CON 1) All weight measurements are recorded (there is no option to weigh yourself and not record it- this would be useful for people who don't want the next person to step on the scale know what their weight is) I've used this scale for the past 2 weeks and I can tell that it is spot on. My old scale was just terrible; it was all over the place. Not having a precise scale can really sap your motivation, especially when you are working out hard and being vigilant with your diet. This scale is always right on. For example, if I drink a bunch of water or use the restroom, the scale adjusts accordingly and it changes in increments of .2 lbs. I almost ordered the EatSmart Digital Precision scale because it was cheaper and had tons of positive reviews. What ultimately swayed me to order this scale was reputation of the maker (Tanita). Because Tanita makes commercial scales in doctors' offices, I figured that the precision and accuracy of this scale was worth the extra $. I almost splurged and got the Health-o-meter 349KLX 2-piece scale, but figured that our little guy would probably tamper with the attached piece and break it. This scale was right in the middle of those two scales pricewise and I am very, very happy with the purchase.

A great, if expensive scale, which lasted 4 years
I purchased this in 2019 because I was tired of cheaper scales that wouldn't detect known variations in weight, and because it was purported one of the most accurate home models you can buy. When it was brand new, it was a very fast, accurate scale that met all of my needs. After 4 years, however, the accuracy of the scale started to degrade. Stepping on certain parts of the scale resulted in different readings, which was not the case when I first bought it. Considering it is only warrantied for 3 years, I won't hold that against it. However it does mean that I am back to looking for a cheaper scale with the same performance. I recently purchased a Etekcity Bathroom Scale for less than $20 which seems just as accurate and repeatable. As much as I like the Tanita, it's not a great value.

Most accurate scale ever!
As someone on a weight loss journey, it’s really important to me that my scale tells me the truth - and this is the only one that consistently tells me the correct number, no huge fluctuations in a few minutes, and so for that reason alone I highly recommend. This is the only scale I trust to weigh daily. The other benefits: seeing your last weight when you step on, the multi-profile abilities, the number stays on for awhile so I can enter it into my tracker, and I’ve found it even stays accurate when you move the scale between rooms. The only thing I wish it had was a backlight - I weigh first thing in the morning like most folks and I have to use a flashlight to see it because I don’t want to turn the room light on. One thing not good/not bad but to know is that it is larger than any other scale I’ve used. There’s also sort of a sinking feeling when stepping on it that I had to get used to. But overall love love love - I dont use any other scale and I couldnt be on this weight loss journey without it!

A bathroom scale I can actually trust
If you’ve ever weighed yourself daily on any inexpensive bathroom scale, it’s kind of amazing how your weight just never moves at all for several days—until one day, it jumps dramatically. Or it’ll shut off without ever resolving an actual weight, endlessly vacillating between fractions of a pound. Not so with this scale. It always resolves, cleanly, and is sensitive enough to pick up every little change. I’ve tested it holding various things and changing my weight a number of different ways and it’s always figured it out cleanly, accurately, and quickly. I’m confident with this scale. And it’s easy to use, too! Just kick whatever number you’re using (up to five people can use the scale—it’ll show you the last weight for each person to compare, and if you forget your last weight, just kick the button and you can peek at it without recording a new weight). I just wish I hadn’t wasted money on other scales first. This is the one to buy.

Excellent Scale
I wanted a scale that was as accurate as the scale in a doctor's office. I did a lot of research and found this scale was well reviewed and very accurate. I didn't need any wireless connectivity, just something that was accurate day after day and didn't fluctuate 5-10 lbs depending on where I stood on the scale. This scale is within 1% the weight my doctors office says I weigh. It's very fast as determining the weight and I like that it stores the previous weight. I'm a big guy (was 320 when started using) and this scale is exactly what I needed. The only improvement I would make is a backlit LED. Nothing crazy, but the scale is in a spot in my bathroom that makes it difficult to read. For most people this wouldn't be a problem as the numbers are decent sized, but shadows and lighting sometimes make it hard. I rated it 4 stars and not 5 because of the backlit LED and the ease of use. This isn't difficult to use at all, but some scales display the previous weight without having to click a button. I took off one star for these issues but all things considered, I would highly recommend this scale.

Wonderful weight watcher!
I just got this scale a few days ago, and I really like it. It's very accurate, and I compared it with my doctor's digital scale which showed almost the exact same weight (only a pound off). Great buy!! Update 12/03/13: My scale finally died. It was great while it lasted. The memory function was nice to have so I could compare my old weight to my new weight, and I am in the process of losing a lot so that is a big help to see the change. I especially like the beep function, the fact that this scale is not one you have to stare down at to wait for your weight to finalize. You can stand on this scale while looking straight ahead and just wait for the audible notification to tell you when it's done weighing. This was its best feature for me. My new scale, which is much more simple yet elegant in design, does not have this audible signal function, and I am thinking of sending it back to get another one of these. I really like the tempered glass of my new scale, and if I can find the equivalent in a Tanita that also has the beep then I will jump on it! In all the years I had this great device, it always stayed true. Oh, and I used to store it on its side, so I don't know if that had anything to do with its lifespan, but it always worked perfectly. I just think I dropped it one too many times.

Here's a very accurate home scale
Bought this one on chance and discovered one of the best bathroom scales I have seen. Well made, great design and not too costly. It has individual memory for up to five people, displays the last reading for comparison, and resets every time it's used.

Excellent Scale
This scale came recommended by a friend. It’s expensive compared to may others but is very accurate and excellent quality. In this case, you get what you pay for.

Anyway I am very happy with this scale
I bought this scale based on reviews; my previous scale (a much cheaper one that this) showed a different weight depending on where I placed it on the floor. Maybe the sensors were worn out. Anyway I am very happy with this scale. The reading does not vary (and I've tried it on different floor surfaces, even different rooms). It was worth paying more for the reliability, and it's easy to use.
