In the modern classic, Jonathan Wilson pulls apart the finer details of the world's game, tracing the global history of tactics, from modern pioneers right back to the beginning, when chaos reigned. Along the way, he looks at the lives of great players and thinkers who shaped the sport, and probes why the English, in particular, have proved themselves unwilling to grapple with the abstract. Fully revised and updated, this fifteenth-anniversary edition analyses the evolution of modern international football, including the 2022 World Cup, charting the influence of the great Spanish, German and Portuguese tacticians of the last decade, whilst pondering the effects of football's increased globalisation and commercialisation. Review: refined out of existence Review: Glad i bought it - Glad i bought it ## Features - Inverting The Pyramid: The History Of Football Tactics - Brand: Seven dials - Product type: ABIS BOOK - Inverting the Pyramid: The History of Football Tactics ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #21,384 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #2 in Gambling #3 in American Football #3 in American Football Coaching | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 548 Reviews | ## Images ![Inverting the Pyramid: The History of Football Tactics - a modern classic perfect for sports-lovers this Christmas - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81AfRWQuvgL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ refined out of existence 見事な英語の表現ですね *by 流***本 on 3 August 2009* 狙いは大げさなものです。 ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Glad i bought it *by S***A on 7 January 2026* Glad i bought it ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ottimo *by D***E on 22 August 2025* Ottimo ## Frequently Bought Together - Inverting the Pyramid: The History of Football Tactics - The Mixer: The Story of Premier League Tactics, from Route One to False Nines - How To Watch Football: 62 rules for understanding the beautiful game, on and off the pitch --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/601021037-inverting-the-pyramid-the-history-of-football-tactics-a-modern](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/601021037-inverting-the-pyramid-the-history-of-football-tactics-a-modern) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-11-02*
