Works! Use hot glue.
I put a spot of hot glue in each side to hold the ball in place. Once I pulled the first ball the hot glue stayed and works awesome to hold balls steady. I used a marki marker and it does well and doesn't transfer too bad after a few days drying.

Works great, with a fix, or with clips
As others have noted, for this to work properly you need to use a strong clip of some kind on a few sides to hold it together. If you try to hold it by hand it will smear as it moves around. I ended up drilling a small hole on 3 sides and super gluing in some tiny rare earth magnets on 3 sides. Holds it together perfectly when being used. Creator take note!

Very good quality...
The best ball marking tool I ever had. Last one I will ever buy. Love it...

Does not hold ball securely.
Too loose which causes ball to move while marking. It’s 3D printed, so it shouldn’t be that hard for them to size it correctly.

Economical means to create launch monitor golf balls
Used this to produce a dozen balls used with a launch monitor to measure ball spin. Purchased a dozen “blank golf balls” (available on Amazon), using this template I produced a dozen of the same type, same condition golf ball. One piece of advice, the ball sits a loose in the template, I used a small piece of Gorilla double-faced tape to hold the ball in position for marking start to finish.

Works as advertise slightly difficult to use
To be completely honest, I bought this marking template simply because it was the cheapest option available. It does work as advertised, but it is a bit difficult to use in practice. The main issue is that the golf ball fits into the template pretty loosely. Because of the loose fit, you have to constantly pinch the top and the bottom together to make sure the ball doesn't spin or move while you are trying to color in the RPT dots. Holding that tight grip gets tiring after a while, and the process is really prone to error; as you rotate to other parts of the ball, trying to hold it steady while keeping the stencil perfectly aligned is a balancing act. It would have been a much better design if the ball fit snugly inside and the template stayed snapped shut on its own. That way, you would have both hands free to maneuver the ball and fill in the dots cleanly. It gets the job done for the price, but it takes some patience.

Holes line up kind of okay, but results aren't good
This holes of this version of the templates for sale on Amazon actually line up pretty well with the dots on a Callaway ball. However, the mlm2pro does not reliably measure the spin. With a 7 iron it often reads absurdly low (~800rpm) or absurdly high (~10,000rpm!). The Callaway balls reliably measure about 4500. Also, even with a tag marker, the ink smears on hits. And forget about a sharpie. One hit on a sharpie dot and it's wrecked. Great idea, but it just doesn't work. I do wonder if the mlm2pro is programmed to give bad values if it doesn't see the Callaway logo on the ball (I marked up Kirkland balls). 🤷♂️

Works!
It works great! You have to top off the dots after a few sessions (I usually only use 1-2 balls at a time) but it’s easy to do since you just go over the dots you’ve already drawn. Rapsodo mlm2 pro recognizes the balls just like the official ones.
