But tomatoes might be too soft. **Q: Is it safe to place the chopper handle and stainless steel cover on the top rack of a dishwasher?** A: I put my pampered Chef accidentally in dishwasher hence this chopper. I would not recommend putting any part in dishwasher. It comes apart and cleans easily. **Q: can I chop almonds?** A: I really doubt it. I don't think it's sturdy enough. I tried chopping onion and I ended up mashing instead of any actual cutting. **Q: Can you chop garlic with this ?** A: I suppose so. The cutting blades are at a distance that it might make it hard to get the garlic in small enough pieces.
