It was more similar to wearing a surgical mask.

Is the wig separate from the beard? Makin sure they're not connected as I only need the wig

They are two separate pieces. Should work out fine if you only need the wig

Can the beard be attached with spirit gum?

The beard is attaching your face with a elastic flexible string the original design. If you like to use spirit gum, maybe you need to do some modification to do it. ( attaching a lining on the beard back so that you may glue ?)
