Large enough you don’t have to refill frequently. No grinding or taking lids on and off to use. Durable. Washable. Variety of hole size selections for various desired amount of salt and pepper. Looks high in. Great quality. Beautiful gold color. Not a light bright shiny gold. They are darker gold with a satin finish and the words Salt and Pepper are written in black script. Very nice set. Matches my other gold accent pieces. I would buy again
