I have been making jewelry for a number of years but one technique that I have always been unsure of is working with wire. I have looked for a book that can provide me with a good foundation for learning the skills involved but, until now, I have not found one that works well for me."Bead & Wire Fashion Jewelry: A Collection of Stunning Statement Pieces to Make" is a fairly comprehensive guide to beginning to intermediate wire work. It lists the tools needed, shows them visually, and then tells how to use the tools, again showing visually how each step is taken. I learn both by reading and by seeing, so the way this book is set up is perfect for me. I can read each step, see how it is done, confirm that what I am seeing is what I am reading and then proceed to doing each step on my own jewelery.The author, Jessica Rose, has laid out each step and then builds on those. She shows the tools, the beads, the wires, etc. Once she has stepped you through the process, then she has provided a myriad of projects - all very stylish and some, very sophisticated. The projects include: necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings. There are projects in each category that I am impatient to start; however, I will do the wise thing and start with baby steps and learn the processes one-by-one before jumping into the deep end.The book is filled with gorgeous color pictures - tools, beads, mood/inspiration shots (where the author tells how she was inspired to each of the projects - wonderful information for those of us who will want to then design their own pieces), and finally, pictures of the beautiful projects - both in finished form and in the step-by-step stages of how to create your own jewelry. The author includes shopping lists of all items needed for the projects and has a list of suppliers (both in the UK and the USA)at the end of the book.It is a beautiful book and one that I have been waiting and looking for for years. I am really pleased to have found it and recommend it to anyone who wants to learn how to do bead and wire jewelry. I am planning to make Christmas gifts based on this book and I know that the recipients are going to love their hand made and unusual jewelry.I received a digital advance reader copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley. I so enjoyed the book, I purchased it immediately so I can have a paperback version in my library of craft books.

I bought this book, and didn't get any discounts.The book combines wire, beads, feathers and other materials, including glue.I work with wire, and this book isn't the kind of jewelry, I create. If you work with fabric, leather and lace, you probably will like this book.

This book was very helpful to me. I have many odds and ends from my jewelry stash and this book helps me take those elements and create beautiful unique pieces.

This is a useful book whether you've made some bead/wire jewelry in the past or you're just learning. I'd done a couple of projects at parties at bead stores and enjoyed it, but definitely needed a refresher and this fit the bill nicely. Lots of pictures of tutorials of the basic equipment and skills required, plus lots of inspiration for entire projects both large & small. Overall an excellent reference book for the craft that's already come in handy for me.Thanks to Netgalley and GMC Publications for a copy for an unbiased review.

This is a well written book for anyone that would like to try their hand in making bead and wire jewellery. The start explains, with good visuals, the tools required and the process to get one started. The project that follow start with a lovely colourful mood board and then a item of jewellery to be made with step by step instructions. The projects are quite lovely and can be worn with pride or made to sell. A very good, instructive book.

I appreciated the clear instructions and wonderful photographs in this book.It is a nice book with simpler projects for beginners and intermediate jewelry crafters.I can see doing several of these projects with kids or as a fund raiser for a church bazaar.I did get a copy from Netgalley in echange for my opinion.This is the type of book I much preffer in a hardcover format, oversized.

I really liked this book Bead and Wire Fashion Jewelry! It was so much different than the typical books I find in the library. I am a crafty person and have enjoyed all things from quilting to cross stitch, embroidery, and needlework. However I never really tried any jewelry making projects.Glancing through the book I found it very well organized, the first part being all the tools and su h you need to make something, and then went on to show different types of things like beads, crystals, what type of things to use for each project like wire or thread, beading needles, and so I caught the bug!They showed different patterns you could make from bracelets to necklaces and earrings. There are step by step instructions to use and a lot of full color photographs of the projects. I went out and purchased some of the items and tried my hand at one of the items- a bracelet and following the directions was actually able to do it without too much effort. I am now the proud possessor of this book! There are even projects to make rings! I am really glad I was able to look at this book an actually figure out that something I always thought that would be beyond my scope was actually described in a way that anyone can do it!I gave this book a 5 star rating and can't wait to start my next project in this book. My suggestion, if any is to buy the book so that you can see it a lot better than trying to use a reading device, I found it easier anyway!

This is incredibly simplistic. Some basic techniques that are done better in other books and a collection of really ghastly designs that are what my mum would have called 'common'. No designs I liked let alone waste my time making. Lucky I got it 2nd hand at a reduced price. It's going to the next jumble sale so somebody might find it useful.

In my opinion, the strengths of Rose's book provides an insight into what is currently fashionable in jewellery making. The techniques are more basic than those offered in other wire work books. However, it does show jewellery makers how to incorporate chain into designs: the treasure trove bracelet is particularly beautiful.

I love this book. Very informative. I really like the projects. They were well explained and the pictures clearly illustrated what you need to do. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to start jewellery making.
