not very easy to find this type anywhere
Our house was built in 1960 and has a fan above the stove in the ceiling. It became time to replace the old fan because it was not working properly anymore. Well, not very easy to find this type anywhere. A specialty store had the same, exact model for twice what Amazon charged. Long story short, the fan is installed and works very well. It is a touch loud, but the motor is strong enough to actually suck up cooking odors as they emanate from the stove top. One piece of advice - a filter is available but not included with the fan. We purchased it separately and would highly recommend doing so.

Good fan and price
Good fan and price. It's not as loud as I assumed it would be. No more than the fan it replaced. I couldn't find a fan for my old home and I didn't want to replace the existing duct work so I only used the motor, blades and bracket. I trimmed 3/4" off the blades to fit a 9" duct. The filter would probably make it even more quiet. I noticed that reshaping the blades made it quieter also. I knew I needed to adapt it to my application so it was the perfect choice for me. Total time was about 1 1/2 hours. Good project with good results. More than happy with the product.

An average good exhaust fan
An average good exhaust fan. Has plastic fan blades, not metal. Does not come with a damper even though the description says that it does, so you may as well figure on ordering the Broan 10 inch damper at the same time. Moves a good bit of air, not silent, but average in sound; a metal blade would be quieter. The supplied 1/4-20 bolt that attaches the louver cover to the fan housing is too short to reach when the fan is mounted on a 1/2 inch thick ceiling surface, so you are going to need to get a 4" 1/4-20 bolt from a hardware store and cut it as long as you may need for your installation. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the damper which is not included and the description says that it is. Over all it is an acceptable way to vent a space and the big box home improvement stores are not stocking these types of items any more because they are not fast sellers.Mine uses 2 amps at 120 volts and has an in-rush current at start of of 6.1 amps, so a 15 amp circuit is adequate supply for the unit.

Good Fan for the Price
I had a very old fan that was incredibly noisy to run. This one is probably a bit louder than some but it is fine to me because it is 100 times quieter than the old one. My husband installed it and it did not take long at all to switch out the old one to this one. We have it mounted in the ceiling. Amazon asks about warmth in the review, it does not provide warmth, it is not supposed to. Amazon also asks about Sheerness, it is not meant to be seen through if that is what they are asking. My overall rating is 5 the other things do not apply.

Great high CFM fan.
I bought this to get rid of excess heat and humidity in my garage. It works great. The noise is less then expected for a fan this size and it really helps move the air out. Installation wasn’t an issue and this fan has been running a lot lately. I would not hesitate to buy this fan again or recommend it.

Moves air very well, noisier than expected
Used to move air from a 600sf finished basement with a wood burning stove, to the first floor. Does move the air very well, just wish it was a quieter, but much better than the old clunker it replaced. This was installed within a suspended ceiling, with a floor air vent above that is about 14”W x 7”D, not exactly ideal, but we made it work. The ceiling tile used t the fan is a white plastic egg crate diffuser, so the fan is installed above that. We had to find a different screw to mount the fan cover on, as the length of the screw provided accounts for the thickness of a dry wall ceiling. Using the fan cover did reduce the noise a bit, and finished it off, as the fan is visible through the egg crate diffuser. Installation was very easy between joists, with the adjustable brackets provided. The Nutone 57W variable speed control was purchased afterwards, since the old existing 3 position speed switch didn’t adjust the fan speeds well enough. The variable speed made a huge difference, as the lower speeds are much quieter, yet still moves air well enough. Still wish it was quieter at higher speeds (above about 60%), but generally happy, especially compared to what was there previously, which was so loud the fan was rarely used.

Great fan. Not as loud as I thought it would be.
Considering the CFM's and the cost I think this fan is great. I was worried about the noise from other reviews but I found it acceptable. I have installed fans 2-3 times more expensive then this one and the sound level is the same. The expensive fan motors are really quite but what you move a lot of air the noise of air movement makes just as much or more then this fan. I would recommend this fan to anyone wanting to save $$. I install this fan above a range. It was a open kitchen and this looks a lot nicer then a $500 kitchen hood that hangs down in the middle of the kitchen.

I got these on e refurbish deal. Very strong! It is not quiet but that was not a concern of ours, we wanted power. Dehumidifies a small bathroom after a long shower in SECONDS
