Bosch Home and Garden Advanced Distance 50C digital laser measure, measure distance precisely up to 50m, touch display, measuring functions with integrated assistance, in cardboard box

My last Bosch professional 80 has been going for over 15 years so I know these are built to a high quality. This model isn’t a professional model but does follow the same materials with slightly thinner rubber components so it may struggle a little with rough use. This adds a touchscreen making it very easy to use. It has every function I have needed in the past 15 years and is very easy to select. The measurement can also be taken from the front, back or back of a plastic extension for difficult to reach areas. It is accurate to 2mm which is a little worse than the professional range but doesn’t make much difference for general house surveys.The Bluetooth works well and has a little learning curve but can save time if investing in the professional features of the app, otherwise some basic functionality is included free.My only negative is that you cannot buy the lithium rechargeable pack for this and have to carry batteries which isn’t ideal for my use as I have never needed to change batteries on a survey so there is a higher operating cost with this for heavy use.

The included soft bag is great for storage and transport, and it came with three AAA batteries, so I was ready to use it right out of the box.Overall, I highly recommend the Bosch Advanced Distance 50C to anyone in need of a reliable and efficient laser measure. It’s a fantastic tool that makes measuring a breeze!

I have a number of BOSCH tools and in general, they are consistently good. Having used this product for a while, it also joins that group.The item is a Advanced Distance 50C, meaning it can measure up to 50 Metres. The measurement is done via a Class II Laser with a power of < 1mW on the 635nm wavelength. You place the item on a surface, using the fold-down back-stop if required, so that you get an accurate start point, or you can fold it back in for storage and tuck the tool into a corner. Once you are ready, just press the arrow button and it takes a measurement of distance. A red laser dot illuminates the remote face being measured.You can change the mode from this to many other modes, there is distance mode, area mode and volume mode, so you can measure 1, 2 or 3 dimensional areas. By default, you place it where you want, press the button, it takes a measurement, then you can remove the meter and read the stored value. It keeps a log of all the measurements you have taken and this log can be cleared when you want to, so it simplifies taking multiple measurements.There is a real-time mode that give you a constantly changing value. Additional modes on the unit are a digital level and an angle measurement (listed as grade in the manual). The last two requires that the unit goes through a very simple 4 stage calibration, where you put it on a fixed surface, press the button, then rotate it as it indicates, then press the button again. Once done, the item will give accurate readings. These modes are real-time measurements.There is an addition and subtraction mode, so you can offset measurements if required.The user interface is pictorial and easy to use, there is a touch screen that is simple to operate, although if you need it, there is a 500 page user manual that is larger than the tool and it comes in several languages. The English part is only 15 pages, plus a couple of diagramsThe tool has Bluetooth capabilities, which can be turned off if you want to save the battery power. The manual states that there are apps in the various app stores that extend the functionality. It doesn't say what this extended functionality is and it doesn't provide any link or QR code in the manual or on any of the devices screens, to get customers to the mythical application. A quick search on the app store doesn't show any product with the name AdvancedDistance or 50C, but there were a variety of other Bosch apps, but none looked like they were for this product, so I wasn't able to test those on the tool.Overall, this is a really nice piece of kit, its simple to use, quick and efficient and comes with a belt pouch, so you can keep it handy when working on a project. The tool comes with a 2 year warranty.Other than the slight frustration about the mythical add-on app, I have no hesitation in giving this product a 5 star review.
