Justice League [Blu-ray] [2017]

Good family afternoon movie
I'd heard bad things, but as someone who was a big justice league fan in the 80s, this captures the authentic justice league feel. There was always that extra bit of humanity to the characters. When they had their solo stints they were always really serious, and fighting for survival, but in justice league, they were always a bit more relaxed, so there were more laughs. This film captures that angle on superheroes. This makes it a really good movie for kids. An adult might consider that the plot doesn't fully make sense in exact details, because that is what adults always do. Why is Lois' hair red, when Lana had red hair? Why is Alfred not properly dressed as befits his character? that sort of thing might also annoy some of the pedants. For kids though, most of the movie is just a really load of awesome stuff going by quickly, in massive detail and totally blowing their minds away. Okay, that is for me too, but it would totally work for kids.On top of this, the nice crescendo to a positive end where fear itself is shown to be something we should avoid, nice shallow/deep message to deliver in a spectacular finale. This is the kind of film that good childhoods are made of.I think the sort of Batman film this is, can be shown in the sort of Batman that is in the film. Affleck is not the ultrabuff modern superhero type. He is an avuncular Batman, who wants to save the world. A far more emotional Batman than we are used to seeing in recent years. The time is right for a return of heroes like this, with a bit more humanity. Role models we can aspire to, rather than role models who are far more than we could ever be.

Why Bother ??
I waited with baited- breath for this movie so pre ordered it , it was sent on Friday 23rd March and i expected it by the following day sat 24th but thought i'd better do the "Justice league party" on Monday 26th ( the release dsate to be safe ! ) got home on Monday 26th to prepare Food and drinks for my friends coming that evening, to find NO BLU_RAY of Justice League ! so i had to run out and buy a copy from the local supermarket ! All went well and we all enjoyed the film ( Obviously i had already seen it 5 times at the Cinema ! )The Blu-ray arrived today 27/03/2018 a day after the annual release ? so why bother to pre-order it if it arrives a day AFTER the release date ??previously anything ive Pre-ordered arrived a day prior to release date or on the actual release day, so don't think I'll be doing this again, might as well wait till the day and get it from the Supermarket ! it wouldn't have been so bad if i hadn't invited friends round for a JL evening !!

Boy, did the Justice League movie get some rotten reviews. But then so did Batman v. Superman which I liked. And being a DC fan there was no way I wasn’t going to buy the Blu when it came out last week. So, any good? Well, I’ve watched it twice in the space of a week. The second time I fast-forwarded through a handful of scenes. Not because they were bad, just a bit slow. On the whole, the film was quite acceptable. The main problem was the villain. I’m the biggest meanest naughty boy (euphemism for a rude word) in the Universe (let’s pass over that my boss is Darkseid) and I’ve killed and maimed millions including gods and Amazons and laughed (in a snarling mean-spirited way) at all the carnage I’ve committed. I’m so tough that’s let’s pass over the fact (which is mentioned earlier on by one of the characters), that I didn’t invade Earth until Superman was safely six feet under. But he’s dead now so no problem there.*Anyway, Batman knows the Earth is being invaded quite soon and needs to get a gang together as he doesn’t have superpowers and is feeling his age. Wonder Woman turns up to give him a hand and they go recruit The Flash (not the one on TV), Aquaman, and Cyborg. And that’s pretty much the plot. Ben Affleck (whose star has faded in recent years) is fine as the getting past his prime Batman as is the depiction of the character. Anyone who has seen her origin movie already knows that the wonderful Gal Gadot is wonderful as Wonder Woman who is possibly the best character in the movie. I really liked Jason Momoa as a surly gruff really macho Aquaman with a sly sense of humour. Ezra Miller is okay as novice hero The Flash as is Ray Fisher as Cyborg. The problem I have with Cyborg is that he has deus ex machina powers, quite literally in his case. By that I mean is that they are ill-defined (because they’re continually evolving) so that the writers can pull out something new to deal with a problem whenever it suits them.Overall it’s the sort of film it’s easy to find faults with if you’re looking for them. Or you can do as I did and just sit back and really enjoy it.* Least surprising spoiler ever: Superman comes back to life.

Great!
**If it's on the front cover then it's not a spoiler. :-)** I've found the DC Extended Universe films to be a mixed bag thus far. Man of Steel was ok. Batman v Superman was one of the worst films that I have ever seen, Suicide Squad was fun but felt like a much longer film heavily edited down and I was disappointed by Wonder Woman. So, my expectations were not especially high here. Maybe five stars is generous but I really enjoyed this one. The action sequences are great. The characters are all really different, and there were just the right amount of them (six) so that they all got an introduction (or re-introduction) and a decent amount of screen time thereafter. Again, not a spoiler as it's on the front cover but... Superman is back and they way that is done was (for me at least) unexpected, handled really well and followed by an action sequence which I really liked. The bad guy and his motive are quite standard but works perfectly fine as a means of getting the League together. I haven't seen Aquaman or Shazam! yet but this film has definitely raised the bar.

Steelbox 4k limited edition
I have the normal edition in bluray and in 4k and this one is the same content as the 4k, I bought it only for the case, steelbox with an amazing cover, I am a collectionist and this must be in my collection, I love it. The movie is the movie, no comments about it. I also like it, not as the Snyder version, but it is good as well. Wish we can have a Snyder steelbox edition someday. Too much to ask?
