A great addition for music lovers
This cajon adds so much to a large variety of songs. Its percussion sounds are rich and by using different areas of the percussion box along with hand variations, I can get more sounds than with bongos or even congas. All you need to play the cajon is a sense of rhythm. Adds tremendously to my selections of Brazilian music. Play along with other musicians or play along with your favorite recorded music. The construction is sturdy and very visually attractive. While the price may seem a bit steep at first glance, the overall quality and usefulness of this fine instrument is well, well worth it. It also arrived well-packaged and protected and comes with its own fitted carry case.

THIS IS THE ONE, IT'S AUTHENTIC!
I'm not the type that normally writes reviews on everything I purchase. I just don't, so this review means a lot to me personally. I paid $580 for a Meinl Cajon and $235 for a A Tempo Cajon and this Tempo Cajon 1. Looks better, 2. sound better (SOUNDS AMAZING) !!! 3. Came with bag and 5. it's bigger.I did a lot of research and they all pointed to this cajon. It's made from the original birth place of cajones Peru. Made by people who grandparent's great grandparents knew about cajons and played cajons. It's like buying a BMW straight from Germany. Those who are BMW fanatics know what I am talking about. The sound is amazing and WAY better than the Meinl Cajon I paid close to $600 which is smaller, looks cheap, sound cheap when compared to this one and didn't come with a bag. They (Meinl) just discovered cajons. I'll be other Meinl products but not cajones. If you want a REAL CAJON get it from the original birth place. I hit the lotto on this one. TRUST THE REVIEWS!The only draw back I see is that the strings can't be tuned. Trust me on this one, it doesn't need it. I'm just afraid that after so many slaps on the cajon it might get out of tune down the road.I hope the price stays within the 200-300 dollar range for tempo cajones. They do have a more expensive one around $300 that can be tuned. (Cajones is plural for Cajon in spanish and Cajon means Crate).

Gorgeous, functional, sturdy, perfect!
I bought this Cajon with no experience with percussion whatsoever. I’m a classically trained trumpet player and singer who had this instrument as a side table and would goof around with it to let off some steam after a hard week. With pressed board cajon’s selling for nearly the same, the quality workmanship was a no brainer. It’s a stunningly crafted instrument. After a couple years of just having fun with it I joined an acoustic group that wanted a little drum to polish the sound. I sing harmony and have fitted this with a direct drive pedal and with a little practice it sounds a lot like a basic set. As my experience has grown and I’ve started performing, I’ve really understood the difference between this and other cajon’s available. This is an incredible instrument! I’ve played other more expensive cajon’s but this has the best soft thumping bass with the pedal or finger tips. The snares are mounted in the corners and are tuned to perfection for most applications. Don’t waste your money on a soulless box with a brand logo stamped on it. This is a lovely instrument that you can enjoy casually or grow into if you’re a serious musician.

Beautiful with a Great Tone Cajon
This is a wonderful Cajon. I have looked at cajons in music stores and was frequently disappointed in how they looked. Most looked very plain like a box made out of plywood. Being a musician myself, I know that looks of an instrument should not be important and only the tone is, but in this case I knew looks would be important too. This cajon is so beautiful with the inlay wood sides and it sounds great too. I wanted it for a Christmas present for my husband since months ago he mentioned wanting one. It was quite a surprise and he has been playing it a lot. My daughter is a drummer and actually teaches in a drum studio and has played the most fantastic rhythms on it. The snare at the top is good, and as you move down the cajon the tone gets deeper. It also comes with a carrying bag for those who need to take it to gigs.

Beautiful and sounds GREAT too!
I've been thinking about buying a cajon for a while now. I'm not a drummer but I've heard the cajon played before and was always amazed that you could get such great drum sounds from one small box. I'll have to admit, I was drawn to this cajon by the way it looked - so beautiful with all the different colored woods. I looked into it and the reviews were good, but there were only a couple. I checked out the manufacturer website and their youtube videos and they seemed legit so I decided to go for it. I'm so glad I did! I thought it looked good in the picture, but I have to say it really doesn't do it justice. It's like a beautiful piece of furniture. The frame is solid wood, but kind of like a multi-colored butcher's block. I really liked the sound too. I was able to sit down and get so many different tones out of it. Since I didn't know much about these things, I asked a friend who is a drummer to come over and check it out. It sounded so good when he played it! He was very impressed - two thumbs up. Altogether thrilled with this purchase!

The El Artesano cajon is a work of art
This is a beautifully built piece to add to one's percussion ensemble. I had to fight off the guitar players, because they kept taking breaks to look at it. Everybody loved the mellow sounds, too. Well worth the money, *and* it comes with a padded carry bag!
