vintage feel. no batteries needed.
Be it a gift for your love one, your family member, or someone close to you, i know that they will be fascinated at this antique looking, no-battery-needed pocket watch. I would personally want one for myself!Okay, so my brother is getting married this november 20, and i wanted to give him something special, i heard him talk about pocket watches which is why i browsed amazon for one, and i happen to come across this one. I am sure glad i did.Okay, so let me save you the time as i summarize all you need to know about this product in my fullest of knowledge of the item.Okay, so the pocket watch does not run on any form of electricity. You wind it up in order for it to start ticking.Next, only one side of the watch opens, though you still can see a view of all the mechanical movements of the watch which is really cool. It's not really a glass covering for the face of the watch, but it is a strong plastic material that pretty much looks like glass. I am not really bothered by this since the surface can always be protected by its metal covering. To further give you an idea of it, i took some pictures to show the detail.I hope my quick reveiw would help you in deciding if this is the one you really want.I will update my review when my brother starts using it to see how long the duration before the next wind up will be needed.Stay awesome!!

A lovely watch
I never intentionally set out to collect pocket watches but I have used them since I was 20 and I am 54 today.. I have kept everyone even when it no longer made sense to repair them. I can't speak for the longevity of this watch as I have only had a it a short time but I can tell you it is aesthetically pleasing ... in other words it is gorgeous... pocket watches get more beautiful and less expensive every year and for the price this watch is a real value.. I must tell you it is not one of my carry arounds ... this one is purely for my collection so I really can't speak to how well it keeps time .. I can tell you that the inner mechanics of the watch are clearly visible when you open it and from behind...the Roman numerals are gold with a black background .. very lovely .. this is a wind up watch.. it does not rely on a battery so if you are going to use it you must remember to wind it up .. its lovely and I am very happy with it

Decent for the price
Regarding winding, since many reviewers here clearly didn't read the directions and don't understand how to properly wind the watch. There is a coil at about the 10 o'clock position - as you wind the watch, you will see this coil getting tighter. Once the coil is completely tight (around 20-25 twists if I remember correctly) the watch is fully wound and should last for 24 hours. It is very important that once you feel resistance in winding that you stop immediately as overwinding can break the coil.Decent pocket watch for the price. The stem is sideways (it should be at the 3 o'clock position rather than the 12 o'clock position). Seems to be well made, everything is nice and secure, no rattling coming from within.

Very nice, it actually arrived before I was expecting it
Very nice, it actually arrived before I was expecting it. It is keeping the accurate time so far and I wind it every 24 hours. I love it, the only down side is that the arms are white against the golden mechanism and I experience difficulties to see the time, I have to tilt it a bit. But I also realize that it could be my eyesight that is not as good as I am progressing through my years, so I cannot blame the design. however, all in all it is a nice piece of craftmanship and I love it. The Roman numeral is not accurate, 4 appears as IIII as opposed to IV (this was a major mistake at my RC school in the 60's) But I will accept that.

I like this watch
I like this watch, and for it's price I think the quality is fair. It's my first wind up watch so it's a bit different than any other pocket watch I've dealt with, but it gives me an excuse to go ahead and take better care of it. The only thing I have against this watch is the watch hands. I don't particularly like them, they're a bit too thin, and the design makes it hard to tell them apart from the other mechanisms being displayed.Otherwise I give this watch 3.5 stars leaning more towards 4.

Very pleased with my new pocket watch
I've had the watch about three weeks now. It is very attractive and has been keeping quite good time. It has gained maybe 2-3 minutes in those three weeks. I wind it once a day, in the morning - about 24 turns seems to be about right. It has not stopped, and I have yet to feel any resistance while winding. For the price, it's an exceptional value. Time will tell, of course.

decent watch for a decent price
I originally bought this watch because I liked the design, overall it's a decent watch, keeps time well (as long as you remember to wind the darn thing) has fairly sturdy construction, and is pretty low priced. My only complaint would be that the watch face shifts back and forth a little during winding, but it always goes back to the original position and doesn't seem to interfere with anything so I'm not concerned.

Good Buy
This came well packaged and is a good quality steampunk style pocket watch. It is functional and has kept time really well in the week and a half I have had it.
