I am so pleased with this purchase! I have a light switch at the entrance to a bedroom that I am unable to use because the adjoining outlet is behind some heavy furniture. This little (attractive) switch is able to pair to a different outlet allowing bedroom threshold access to turn on a lamp. In this way, my elderly mother can turn on the lights before she enters the bedroom. I mounted the switch right next to the existing light switch, but closer to the door frame. The on area is simply a push to the top of the switch, or push to the bottom for off (easy for her). The entire on/off unit can pop out of the frame as desired for portable usage. This is a brilliant little gizmo and I am grateful for the way it keeps my mother safe.

Note: This review is for the remote plug, not the socket.I have a room that does not have a ceiling light on the light switch. It is an older house and I think the electrician was imbibing a bit much the week he was wiring the place. I didn't want to dig in and pull wires up to create a circuit for a switched lamp.This allows me to install a standard looking light switch that will remotely turn on and off a lamp set up somewhere in the room. This simplifies using that room now. I set it up with a LED lamp so it is a low wattage light source.The switch is easy to set up and install at your preference location using either the included compression adhesive tape or the "screwless" mounting bracket. I preferred to use the screw method so the switch could take an off angle contact without worrying about it coming loose from the wall. The kit also includes two screws and 2 drywall anchors to make the wall mount easy.There is a small instruction booklet you will need to make sure you pair the switch and plug and how to change the battery when the time comes. There is a switch on the plug so if the remote battery is between lives you can still activate the plug directly.

Wanted something for a floor lamp we have in the living room that would keep us from having to manually turn on and off or unplug and plug in especially since the lamp is a a large smoked eddison globe and I fear it can easily be broken so with 2 kids and a husband who's basically a kid also it would be a sure bet to break quickly if they had to turn on and off every time they needed to.This was a totally lamp saver!! Basically turns any light that doesn't operate with a light switch in any room into another hardware light with a normal on off light switch. The set up was a tad confusing and had to read the instructions a few times and start over once before we got it working properly but it wasn't but a few minutes of our time extra!I absolutely recommend this little socket and switch to anyone who needs to have a better option for any if there floor lamps or hall lights or table lamps etc!

This remote controlled outlet and the accompanying remote work well for controlling non-dimming loads. The range on the remote seems really good.

I have an 18 ft long room where the switch is on the opposite side of the room from where I need the light. So I put a floor lamp in there with this bulb in it. Now I can just open the door, reach to the wall like a regular switch and flip the light bulb on in the floor lamp. It's pretty cool that you can take the switch out and carry it with you, if you want.I walked out of that room and to the other side of my property to try this, and it still worked. So the range is pretty great.

I mean technically it works and is a great idea, especially in an older house or apartment with no ceiling fan and only 1 outlet to a light switch. You can easily add another and keep this switch wherever you need it. The downfall is that in a room with limited outlets, this plug is shaped in a way that it takes up both plug spots. Would be a 5 star knock out if it was more rectangular like similar plugs that are app based and not switch based, especially since we prefer the switches over needing your phone 24/7.

I would have given this product 5 stars if it was as described in the product description. I ordered a remote control light socket, but received a remote control 3-prong outlet -- which is high quality and works great! However, it is not a light socket. I used this item as a remote outlet controller for our Christmas tree lights. The outlet is made of sturdy materials and paired easily with the small controller unit. It switches on/off without any delay. I'm happy with the item; but it wasn't the item shown in the photo. I'm unsure whether Amazon delivered the wrong product or if the product itself was described incorrectly.

The title of this review says it all. It works like a charm right out of the box. My house is an old family farmhouse and even the new additions are pre-WWII. There are hardly any plugs anywhere and the ones we do have are in the most awkward places. We have a floor lamp that I have to climb halfway over the couch to turn on and off. (What can I say? I'm 5'1" and can't reach anything!) This plug is perfect. The remote/on/off switch comes with two-sided tape to use and I stuck it to the wall right where I wanted it. I am ecstatic about this item and am already thinking ahead for where else to put them. This makes me so happy!
