Very inexpensive; very impressive initial results
A portable, smaller and less weighty alternative to a Whetstone sharpening stone. The "Bolokin Diamond Sharpening Stone 400/600 Grit Double Sided Foldable Portable Knife Sharpener for Outdoor Gardening Camping Hunting Farm Work etc" that could be used for pocket and hobby knives as well as gardening tools such as shears and hoes. It could fit in a trouser pocket or one in a hobbyist's waistcoat, jacket or work belt. Having this and using it exclusively for other than kitchen knives will avoid contamination from harmful gardening chemicals or plant sap (many common garden plants are quite poisonous) that may get onto them. The stone has two surfaces of different grit grades, the coarser, lower numbered one for grinding out chips and nicks, the other for fine sharpening. As with a Whetstone, lubrication in the form of water or a light oil is recommended. There is a correct technique required for best results and a specific angle needs be maintained which will be different for knives (mostly 15-20 deg) than for scissors, shears and other tools. There are usually guides available to view on-line for sharpening different tools (although most feature a Whetstone) and they may include advice about the best angles to use.The stone is fitted within a pair of plastic covers which, when folded out, form its handle. Sharpening is best performed slowly and carefully to avoid unwanted and potentially serious cuts which may be more likely as this will be hand-held although usually rested on a solid surface; a Whetstone stone is only ever used laid on a solid surface. This is a very inexpensive tool currently working to, if not beyond, expectations and its quality and potential longevity may be very different than a top quality Whetstone stone which may cost over £100, lesser ones £30 or so. It was required, as alternative sharpeners are no longer effective, to use with a few small knives that are mostly used to open boxes and to remove webbing and film or hessian wrappings from packages. The results after first use on one knife (4 or 5 sweeps on each side - very few are needed and 5 may be too many) were very impressive and left the blade dangerously sharp. The blade can now cut into the edge of a sheet of paper held vertically; it had never been able to do that since it was first purchased.

Good sharpening tool
Good item, works well, note the abrasive is carborundum, not diamond but as carborundum is only very slightly less hard than diamond it works as a very suitable economical alternative. As a 400/600 grit sharpener I consider this as a preparation tool, moving on to a finer stone for finishing.Definitely recommended.

Great size
Awesome sharpener, not the biggest one but easily does the job. Would definitely recommend it. A good size to take with you when you are camping.

Very Nice sharpener
None of all the fancy stuff, this with just a few swipes across it made my blade sharper. With a bit more effort, I think it would sharpen my knife to a razor's edge. I think it could be a bit bigger but it folds up like a knife for clean storage.

Versatile compact diamond sharpening stone
Good quality flat diamond sharper, not to course and bites into knife blades well, just wet it to stop it clogging up and wipe it dry when your finished
