Adapter for Danfoss thermostatic heads, RAVL valves 24 mm, screw thread M30 x 1.5

I bought this adapter to convert my older Danfoss TRV's so I could add Hive thermostats. Hive don't provide an adaptor for the older style TRV's, so it was either an adaptor or replace for a more modern TRV valve and draining the heating system and all the plumbing involved. Although not cheap they are very well made and do the job.

Like other reviewers, I think the internal spring looks and feels far too strong. I’m barely able to compress the pin of the adapter with my thumb. This pressure added to the pressure needed to compress the TRV needle valve will undoubtedly overload the motor and gearing of the Drayton Wiser electronic radiator thermostat. I will look at removing this spring and perhaps replacing it with a much weaker spring, possibly that found in a cheap biro. This will provide the back-pressure needed to keep the adapter’s mechanism stable, but not overload the Wiser. Otherwise it looks a very well made adaptor.

Expensive, BUT saves draining down the system to replace the complete thermostatic valve, so ends up value for money, if you take into account the time draining the system. Fits well and does the job, so cannot complain

I bought them for my radiators. 5 of them. I recently wanted to install Hive smart radiator valves. Our radiators are a bit old. This part was essential. It helped me to save lots of money .

Did not fit my particular Danfoss RA TRV bodies, likely my fault.The adapters supplied with the Drayton Wiser Smart TRV's however fit and work perfectly on the older Danfoss RA TRV bodies.

specifed as a 26mm adaptor but is stamped 24 and doesnt fit over my radiator valve - the search goes on

This adapter is very good, my radiators are a mix due to replacements over the years, this adapter now enables me to buy a modern pack of valves (a lot cheaper than danfoss ones) and use them on all radiators

I have a Danfoss RAVL valve in my living room which was the only one which I could not replace with a Hive TRV. Upon receiving the adapter, I was doubtful about the pin matching up to the valve pin. Installation was simple - just take off the TRV, clean the exposed pin and the RAVL ring (with a cloth), install the adapter (need to push it tightly so that it "snaps" on the valve body), then tighten the screws on the adapter using the alan key given in the Hive TRV box. Install the M30 adapter given in the Hive TRV box and then follow the normal installation steps for the Hive TRV. Valve calibration went through after the 3rd attempt. A definite must buy when trying to install Hive on the older Danfoss valves.NOTE:1. Measure the valve pin dia on the Danfoss valve. This adapter is meant for the 26mm RAVL, and NOT for the 37mm RAV (older version).2. Before installing the adapter, do the valve pin test to make sure there is no scale/rust which hinders the pin movement.
