Breeder reccomend
Recently purchased for our new puppy. This food was highly reccomend by our breeder who has used this for a few years with both pups and adult dogs. He has said the quality is tried and tested. After seeing how much our puo enjoys it and the health and condition of the older dogs it was a no brained for us to continue with this feed. Arrived in great time also!Great ingredients, little smell and easy for puppies to digest.

A brand you can trust, with quality 2nd to none, unless you go on a raw diet.
Orijen Puppy Large is my Newfoundland's favourite food. Free from grains and the unknown derivatives and such sourced "meat", Orijen food is 85% meat, with the remaining percentage lentils and similar non-grain foodstuffs. The first main ingredients are directly sourced fresh and dried meats, rather than derivatives. The Puppy Large differs from the standard yellow bagged Orijen Puppy, in that Puppy Large caters for the metabolic and growth requirements of large and giant breed dogs, which differ from small and medium breeds, and require high-quality protein for lean muscle growth and development, but a lower calorific and carbohydrate intake to help prevent excessive weight gain which can lead to undue stress and strain on growing joints and bones. Calcium and Phosphate levels are also specific for larger breeds, who can have too much of having to overeat less nutritious foods. The yellow bagged standard puppy is designed for all breeds other than large/giant breeds. It has the same 38% protein, but with a GI calorific value, for dogs that have a faster metabolism. The kibble is small but comprises of the same meat ingredients as the large puppy food. The puppy large kibble is slightly larger than the standard puppy kibble, and when placed next to an unnamed but similarly priced premium brand of dog food, my pup picks this every time. His growth has been steady and he is a very trim, lean dog with plenty of muscle and strength. His coat is also in great condition. If you can afford it, I would say it is most definitely worth having this for your large breed puppy. Alternatively, try the Acana range, which is made by the same manufacturers, but the ratio split is 2/3 dried to 1/3 fresh, rather than 2/3 fresh to 1/3 dried. The mantra is still the same, and while perhaps may not be as "premium" and Orijen, will still have the great nutritional benefits and trustworthiness from the manufacturer. As with any food switch, be sure to slowly mix in the food in increasing proportions over a week or so. If your dog is switching from a lower quality lower protein food, there may be some softer poos which they adjust, however, a good probiotic will help during this phase.I wouldn't have my pups on anything else.5-month Newfoundland - Orijen Puppy Large5-month French Bulldog - Orijen Puppy

Great food that solved a very smelly, and runny, issue!
We rehomed a Romanian rescue pup in March and, aware of their need for bland food for the first few weeks, we started her on Symply Puppy after a week or so of boiled chicken and rice. Despite being a normal healthy, active pup with a shiny coat and no other issues, her digestive tract just wasn't happy. After 2 months of very soft to liquid poo, that you could only smear around with a poo bag rather than pick up, and farts that were so bad you could literally chew the air, I decided to try her on the very highly rated, for both nutrition and results, Orijen Puppy. Based on the fact that her poos couldn't possibly get any worse, we transitioned her onto it much quicker than is recommended. Within days, things had started to solidify and the farting stopped. Now we are finally able to pick up well-formed turds of which there are only 3 or 4 a day (she was doing about 6, sometimes more, on Symply). Hallelujah! Now, I'm not saying that Symply is a bad choice of food (my mum's dog has been on it for years with no issues and it rates above 85% on the allaboutdogfood website) it just wasn't right for our pup...in the same way that Orijen may not suit your dogs. Comparing the ingredients, Symply had more carbohydrates and much less protein and fibre than Orijen. Clearly Orijen's ratio suits my pup more. It's a pity it isn't cheaper (it's £20 more for 600g less!) but I'm more than happy to take that hit if it means I don't have to go back to smearing liquid sh*t all over the grass and, many, many times, my hand.

Healthiest Option for Puppies
I did a lot of reading into the range of foods available for puppies and Orijen came out top, when nutrition, cost and convenence are weighed up. The most in depth scientific review ever completed placed Orijen top for puppies. Our Goldador is 22 weeks old and has been on Orijen since 8 weeks. People are always very impressed by her healthy coat and appearance. She is growing really big and strong, even compared to the rest of her litter. The food seems to sit well on her stomach and has produced much firmer stools than the pedigree version, along with far less offensive gaseous emissions! She also seems to need mych less to fill her up, so you will probably end up getting better value for money than you expect: our first 11.4kg bag lasted 8 weeks and our second around 7.On the negative side (4 stars), I can't pretend our puppy loves this healthy option, but I mix it with a quarter tin of Pedigree Puppy, mash in a bit of peanut butter or add a bit of gravy, then it soon disappears.

Worth the extra money as don’t use as much
Very expensive compared with other commercial brands but you really do get what you pay for. It took about 2 weeks which is normal for my large standard poodle 7 month to tolerate it as it is so much more superior and rich in ingriedients and her poo has decreased and not so bulky and offensive smelling, she is still full of life and more importantly I know that I am giving her the best I can to help keep her healthy and hopefully leading a long and healthy life. It’s like humans eating better quality food designed for humans with not excessive carbohydrates and full of nutrients. Why do we treat our dogs differently.
