H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness Deluxe Edition (Manga) (H.P. Lovecraft Manga)

Astounding, a great edition of an incredible adaptation.
The book itself is beautiful, the silver lining on all the pages fits well with the black and white motif of the rest of the book. The art is amazing, Gou Tanabe has succeeded once again. I highly recommend reading the original if you're into cosmic horror as it is definitely one of the foundational texts of the genre. The translation is on point throughout with only one or two "Wait, what?" moments which could have honestly been a difference in the reading of the original text.A must have for the fan of cosmic horror, manga, or both.

Mysterious...
The story is mysterious, but things do explained in parts. I like the creepy atmosphere and the art is very good.

Cool edition.
Great art and sturdy book. It makes me want an oversized edition so I can really get into the great detail of the artwork.

This larger Deluxe treatment is perfect for the detailed art of Tanabe
Gou Tanabe has masterfully retold several Lovecraft stories that have been collected in smaller paperback editions. But Tanabe’s detailed art needs to be seen in a larger format so this hardcover deluxe edition is the perfect solution. His complete adaptation of At the Mountain of Madness looks great larger. The deluxe edition has silver gilded pages and a silver ribbon bookmark which is a nice touch to this beautiful adaptation to H.P. Lovecraft’s longest story. Although I have Tanabe’s other adaptations in the smaller format, I’m hoping to see them all given this larger hardcover deluxe treatment. This hardcover comes wrapped in plastic and includes a color leaflet. I have read Lovecraft’s story before and have read this story adapted by other writers and artists too and I have to say this is one of the best at capturing Lovecraftian horror at it’s finest. I highly recommend this!

A masterful adaptation of Lovecraft's masterpiece
Gou Tanabe has been doing incredibly detailed and accurate manga adaptations of Lovecraft's fiction for quite some time, and his 'At the Mountains of Madness' is no exception. Beautifully illustrated, and with Lovecraft's wordier passages adapted in such a way as to keep their meaning while working in manga format, this is a book for fans of horror, manga, and HPL. I delight in my copy and hope Tanabe-sama does more such books.

Get off the fence and get this NOW!!!!
Ok, you may be in one of a few finite groups. Group A: I have the two volume Tanabe Mountains and want to know if it is worth the puchase. Group B: I love Tanabe's work and want to know if it's worth it. Group C: I'm a Lovecraftian and want to know if this is a good entry point for me for Lovecraft Manga. To all groups: GET THIS NOW!!!!!!This came in to me today and I've read and reread the original pocket size Mountains Manga. Everything is legitimately better. This is NOT a cash grab like some other "deluxe" managas. It is a beautiful homage to both Tanabe and HPL. NICEST things are:* It is WAY bigger than the original Mountains Manga. (For reference, the original were like the size of Chainsaw Man mangas or something similar, regular size in other words. THIS one is the size of the hardback Berserk mangas. It may be like an inch smaller than the Berserk hardbacks but not by much. It is sturdy.)* BOTH volumes of the Tanabe Mountains are here. No two volumes.* Bigger book = Bigger art. It does not look like they went cheap with this and just stretched a scan (which can distort the original and is ANNOYING). No, they took time in making sure there was no distortion and it shows best in the full page spreads. Simply beautiful.* This will probably go out of print FAST so I'd grab it immediately. Hopefully they planned for this and it doesn't happen but if you have even a small interest, get it NOW.I am an unabashed Lovecraftian and Tanabe-ian. This book has warmed my dark, dark heart. I have rarely been so impressed with a deluxe manga. Bravo Dark Horse! Bravo!

This one I think is really excellent
I read the same artist interpretation of “The Shadow over Innsmouth” and “The Call of Cthulhu.” I didn’t think much of them, but this one is pretty spectacular. It is an excellent graphic novel interpretation of one of Lovecraft’s most important pieces of writing. Definitely worth having, especially in the deluxe version. Good stuff. Highly recommend it.
