Lovely flavour
I have tried numerous different style pots like these and I must say this is one of my favourites, I was pleasantly surprised at just how much flavour it has and a nice chilli kick. I am very happy I bought a pack of 8. Definitely recommend

Edible… just
They are ok for what they are I guess. Not a huge amount of flavour and weird texture. I ate them though but won’t buy again

Good rich taste, slow burn medium spice
I’m inconsistent when it comes to spicy food, sometimes I can handle it and sometimes I just can’t handle the build-up in my mouth and the watering eyes, so I wasn’t sure what I would get out of this. In terms of spiciness, it starts off quite mild, with the initial taste coming across like a regular supermarket-grade chilli con carne, mild or medium spiced. But as you work down the pot, it does build and it does start feeling a little sharp- but even I can get to the bottom of the pot without quitting, and I’ve certainly tasted spicier things. For spiciness I think I’d stamp it with two chillis out of three, or four chills out of five.Spiciness aside, it really is surprisingly tasty. The last Slimfast pot I tried involved noodles which ended up a little floppy, but here it’s rice instead, and that works much better- the rice tastes freshly boiled and has a good texture to it. There’s a decent range of vegetable bits and pieces in here too, and all of them have a texture that’s just about right- not as good as genuinely fresh-cooked perhaps, but as good as you get in a supermarket frozen meal for example. There’s a good taste to it with somehow just a hint of MSG, despite that not being on the ingredients list.Like other Slimfast products though, the food isn’t quite as healthy as the brand name would want you to believe. While the calorie count might seem low, and the pot is reasonably filling despite that low calorie count and low weight of 60g, there’s still quite a lot of salt in here. Side-by-side with a Pot Noodle, which has a very different reputation for healthiness to this, the nutritional values really aren’t as different as perhaps they ought to be.At over two quid per pot at time of writing, this Slimfast pot doesn’t score higher than other pot snack brands quite as clearly as perhaps it should. The taste is really surprisingly good, but other factors stop me from giving it a full five stars.
