Does not hold a flat shape well. Product works just fine but needs to be laid flat for 20 min before assembling the ranks. Silicone is superior.

This is a very basic roll-up Chess mat. While good for beginners, it does not feature the coordinates, which would have been a plus, but there is enough space to write them in. It is very lightweight, which makes it great for travel, but it would have been ideal if it came with a storage sleeve/pouch that could hold the mat rolled up with room to also fit the Chess pieces (not included). Out of the box, the mat took a little time to lay flat, but once it settled it did not bubble or curl up. I imagine once I roll it up again it will need time to settle flat when I unroll it, an issue that may have been avoided if it was twice the weight (8.2 ounces instead of only 4.1 ounces). The extra weight would have still made it just as portable for travel, but it would have served to weigh down the mat so that it could be used outdoors without the threat of blowing away on a breezy day. The vinyl can be wiped down easily, the spaces are symmetrical, and the corresponding ELONGDI 3” Chess pieces (sold separately) fit the board perfectly.
