Very good but very expensive!
The iron is very impressive, it does what it says on the box (almost) and makes ironing less of a chore. It did heat up within 2 minutes and I had steam whenever I needed it. It is nice that you can put the iron down and leave it without fear of burning the board cover. It is also light and glides easily over the fabric.Having had a steam generator iron for nearly 10 years (Tefal) I knew what to expect in terms of noise and a wet floor, and despite this Philips iron being listed as silent steam it is not silent, as with all steam generators there is a lot of noise as the appliance moves water into the boiler (which happens quite often) and the steam coming from the iron as you use it is not ‘silent’, so don’t buy it and expect it to be noise free. The wet floor is something that you have to live with if you use a steam generator, I’m lucky that I use mine in the kitchen that has a tiled floor, if you want to iron in a carpeted room you’ll need to put a waterproof sheet down to catch the drips. Good ventilation is also a pre requisite - the steam does tend to fog up the room! You’ll also need to wipe down the board before you put it away.Having had a Tefal with an automated retractable lead and plug I will have to get used to manually folding the lead on this one to stow it away - not a major thing but it would be nice if Philips could follow Tefal in this, especially given the very high price that they are charging.I would definitely recommend the iron but its price is high which is my only criticism.

The Rolls Royce of steam generator irons
I was skeptical that this could be as good as people say, but it's honestly the best iron I've ever had. Easy to use, no temperature adjustment needed, you can go straight from cotton to silk. It gets creases out of items I never have been able to before, and the water tank lasts a long time on a fill. I wish I'd bought one sooner - it's an investment but it's well worth it!

Ironing Problems Due to Limescale
It doesn’t smooth out wrinkles immediately and often requires quite a bit of effort. Sometimes it even releases limescale water, leaving stains on the clothes. That’s why, although I always add descaled water when ironing, I still face this problem from time to time.

The steam generator iron
I have had 4 steam generator irons since 2003, all of them top of the range. I need to get a new one in May, so I though I would buy a mid range thinking that it would be as good as my last 2 Philips irons.I bought the Philips Steam Generator Iron model GC7840/26. It so not as good as my last 2 irons, that a few days I had had enough, I order the Philips Philips Steam Generator Iron model GC9682/86. It is by far the best iron I have ever used. It is so much better than my old one, lighter iron, it stops steam as soon as you put it on the base, much easier to fill water tank, and most importantly does an amazing job!!

The Rolls -Royce of steam generators. Fabulous machine
Philips Elite is the best machine out there right now. ~ there no garment that this equipment will not ironThey are expensive but it’s worth every single penny.Originally I bought a Tefal on Amazon but it was useless ~ I know my steam generators been in the garment industry for 30 years so I know my machines.I tried the Tefal out and promptly returned it ~ not fit for purpose.I spent an extra £100 and got the top of the range Philips. The Rolls-Royce of steam generators and absolute dream to use and no garment is troublesome for the Philips

So expensive and bad quality product!
I’m really disappointed with this iron, especially considering the price. I’ve had to return a couple already (for similar reasons) , and Amazon has let me down a few times when they claimed to have repaired the one before this, which wasn’t the case. To make matters worse, they replaced it with a new one that’s now spewing steam on the base position, even when it’s in the normal position. It even wets the clothes! Instead of resolving my issue with the new one, it seems we’ve gone from a bad quality to a worse one. This iron is less than two weeks old! I’m now having to fight Amazon again for a replacement because they insisted before to return it and get a refund, which doesn’t help because the price of the product is ridiculous now. I got it on sale at £350, and now it’s £540! It also leaves us without an iron for sometime! Amazon also lied to me when they said since the repair was not done they would give me a full refund in voucher form and I wanted to get another iron, despite having this in writing they negated on it and said sorry you won’t get the refund of £547 as the iron was repaired ( it was not I hate lies) however we will give you a new one and £50 and here we are again. Having to waste time and energy to get a replacement!!! Be mindful if you are buying this as Amazon expats you to wait up to 20 business days ( they don’t say that on the phone) to be without an iron , plus you get no contact from their “partner” I have insisted that a new replacement comes before returning this one but am concerned that even a new one with have issues!!!!

You get what you pay for
I don't iron clothes myself, but my wife who is very fussy about an iron, really loves it. Much better than her previous steam iron and she thought that was good.
