This is the ongoing tale of a blended family, the Foxes and the Badgers, who are facing a crisis ...
The ground was covered with snow, but Ginger, Grub, and Bristle were out scouting for food. Dig, dig, dig! "I'm stopping," Bristle said to Grub. "It's too hard." The ground was frozen and there's was nothing to be had. When they found Ginger, she hadn't had any better luck. "Gruummbblegrrr!" Those stomachs were rumbling and grumbling an the best (and only) thing they can do was head for home. At least their den was cozy and warm, but unfortunately there was nothing for the table.Papa Badger, who was holding baby Berry, told them that "It's getting difficult to find things to eat. Winter has been cold and long this year." Once upon a time there were two families, the Badgers and the Foxes. It was just Mrs. Fox and Ginger, but now that there was a blended family, there were many more mouths to feed. Ginger's "almost brothers," Grub and Bristle, were pains, but they really needed to find food. Papa Badger was very worried because no doubt their food wouldn't last long. Food was short, but when Grandma and Grandpa Fox showed up by surprise, there were even more mouths to feed."The more of us there are, the more we can find," declared Papa. The only problem was that Grandpa was full of fun and adventure. Too much adventure and no work! When the family went to a field that promised to yield some food, someone had beat them to it. Grandpa was going to take the children on a hunt, but he was proving to be more trouble than he was worth. Ginger, Grub, and Bristle were up for adventure, but all of a sudden that adventure turned into disaster when Grandpa went just a bit too far! Were the Badger and Fox families going to have enough food to make it through that long winter or would they starve? This is the ongoing tale of a blended family, the Foxes and the Badgers, who are facing a crisis. This graphic novel for young children is about an enchanting blended family who are much like some `real' families. Ginger, the oldest girl, is always bossy and used to getting her way. To add to the sometimes difficult family dynamic, Grandpa and Grandma Fox move in during a very difficult time. This series, which should be read from the beginning, realistically portrays the life of a blended family. Ginger and her "almost brothers" are now starting to get along much better, but Ginger still has problems with badgers. The panels are whimsically enchanting and delightfully appealing. This is an excellent choice to add to your list if you are thinking of creating a blended family or already have one.MR. BADGER AND MRS.
