Awesome for studio shooting!
I love this light and it is my go to now. It is perfect for studio shooting. Not recommended if you are going to be working outdoors or on site but for studio shooting it is perfect! The added accessories make it way more versatile and a great bang for your buck.

Quality lighting
The NEEWER S101-300W Strobe Flash Light is a powerful lighting solution for photography studios. With its 300W output, it delivers light for various shooting scenes. The 150 Watt modeling lamp provides additional lighting control, and the standard Bowens mount reflector ensures compatibility with a wide range of light modifiers. The S1/S2 modes allow for convenient synchronization with other flashes, and the silent fan ensures quiet operation during shoots. Overall, the neewer strobe is a reliable option for portrait and product photography.

Just a problem with the modeling light.
This unit is nice and bright but the model light starts to smoke when on for a short time.

Plenty powerful
Right out the box I noticed the build quality felt solid. The casing appears to be made out of aluminum. Digital display is easy to read. There is a multitude of adjustment levels which enabled me to dial in the perfect lighting condition. On level 9 the flash does get quite bright. While I do wish this was cordless, the provided cable is actually long enough to reach distant outlets. Happy with it so far.

Simple Enough
Overall, it’s a good strobe with modeling lamp. It comes with no trigger so make sure you have one handy. It cycles really fast for continuous shots. Easy to use.

Very good
The NEEWER S101-300W Strobe Flash Light is a very nice piece to have set up in your studio as an aux flash or even main flash. This does have a digital display and comes with no remote which is welcoming in a way. It can be used in sync or as a slave flash with no trouble at all. It’s mostly metal and I always prefer metal to plastic. It comes with a long cord making it connect easily with less possibility of needing to find an extension cord. It is fused with the fuse being very handy to get to if needed. It also has a mechanical power switch that while is easily accessible, is located on the bottom making it less likely to accidentally be flipped. This is sold as the light only. It does not come with a stand or umbrella. Frankly, I’d rather it not have those items because I may either have those already or prefer another brand. Either way, it’s a wasted expense including such for me. This takes only a few minutes to set up. The only assembly needed in putting in the modeling lamp. I recommend not touching it with your fingers as it could leave trace oils from your skin on the bulb. This can cause hot spots on bulbs, shorting the life. Will it matter? I can’t say on this but it doesn’t hurt to use a paper towel to insert the bulb. The instructions assume that you know what many of the features already do. I suggest keeping the instructions as it will explain how to replace the main flash tube. And here we are with the downfall of this light. I have looked at the manual, product page, have done a basic search and I don’t see what bulbs are recommended for replacements. I see the modeling bulb doing a search but the one that shows for this unit won’t fit. This fixture uses a modeling bulb with a couple of prongs on the end; it is not a regular screw in bulb. Why is it so hard to find a part number or recommendation from Neewer? I suspect that a similar flash tube with the same style prongs, wattage and voltage will work but I’d rather know before doing a trial and error. Other companies sell replacement bulbs and so does this one but this model isn’t listed.

If You Already Have A Neewer Trigger It won't Play Nicely Out of the Box
I recently got my hands on this studio flash, and let me share my thoughts on it. This flash might seem straightforward, but there are a few things you should be aware of. If you're already using a Neewer trigger, be prepared to invest in a receiver as well, as they don't play nice straight out of the box. One positive aspect is the inclusion of an optical sensor, allowing it to synchronize with other flashes. This can be handy for certain setups. The light output is adjustable across 9 levels, and the digital readout, although simple, gets the job done with two digits starting at 7.0 and going up to 10. The power it packs is impressive, but I found the lack of communication with my trigger to be a bit disappointing. It's an inconvenience that takes away from an otherwise solid performer.

📸 Brightening Up My Photography!
As a budding photographer, I've always been on the lookout for gear that elevates my shots without breaking the bank. When I stumbled upon this strobe flash kit, I figured it was worth a shot. After all, who doesn't want that perfect lighting for their indoor portraits? My journey with this kit has been a mix of surprises and learning curves, and I'm here to share my experience with it. Little disclaimer, I find Neewer to be a great company and I love their products, they rarely ever let me down! Pros: The light construction is solid and professional-grade, making it durable and reliable. Syncs nicely with my camera, offering seamless integration for better photography. The modeling light is fantastic for pre-shot positioning, ensuring I capture the scene just as I envision. Offers a good range of brightness and power levels, providing versatility in different shooting environments. Cons: The instruction manual could be more user-friendly, especially for beginners. Finding replacement parts, like the specific modeling bulb, is a bit of a hassle. In essence, this strobe flash light kit has its ups and downs. It shines with its robust build and excellent functionality, making it a great tool for enhancing indoor photography. If you're a photographer who values construction quality and performance, and you're willing to navigate some initial setup puzzles, this kit could be a valuable addition to your gear. A giant step forward for my lighting game
I put the amateur in the designation amateur photographer. I've owned a Canon 60D for many years and it hasn't seen much use lately. At the height of my spending into this expensive hobby, I added a 430EXII Speedlite to my kit. The next step to up my lighting game was adding slave flash which I haven't done until now. I still have much to learn about lighting, but the NEEWER S101-300 Strobe Flash scratches my lighting itch and seems like a great next step in my journey. I had a lighting stand from an LED light that is a bit on the rickety side and for safety sake, a proper stand is a necessary upgrade. Setup was easy... the placement of the on/off switch had me befuddled for a bit and is something I think I would have figured out sooner if the instruction manual had larger print/diagrams. Definitely recommend downloading the PDF version from the NEEWER site. I was able to trigger the strobe flash from my Speedlite by setting the NEEWER flash to S1 Flash mode. I don't have a soft light umbrella or other accessories to diffuse the flash, so that will be my next purchase. I also appreciate the modelling lamp for video work or backfill lighting. Happy to be back behind the lens with good lighting from NEEWER.
