It definitely gets the strings out of mashed sweet potatoes and it makes the fluffiest mashed potatoes around.

I've never had a potato ricer, but have thought about them for a while, as I understand they make a big difference in texture of your mashed potatoes. As I'm sure many know, mashed is the highest and best use of an otherwise mealy, boring, flavorless tuber. Once they're adorned with butter, milk, sour cream, or whatever you prefer to make them delicious, you'll understand why having them any other way is just not worthwhile. I hardly ever eat them, so this was an impulse buy, for sure.When I got this out of the box, there were no directions for the 3 different hole sizes, so I just picked the smallest one out, and boiled some Yukon Golds. Didn't peel them or anything. When I put them into the ricer and squeezed, I was a little surprised by the velocity and distance across the kitchen potato squirted. Fortunately, I have a dog, and most of the goo went into my intended bowl. Think I'll try a larger hole size next time. I got through about 8 potatoes in just a few minutes, and the skins stayed in the ricer and only clean potatoes came out. They stayed hot and absorbed the butter and milk just fine. And they were DELICIOUS!! And light, fluffy, and ethereal!! Oh my, I believe I am going to start buying potatoes in big bags. I'm going to try this thing on yams, carrots, beets, whatever. I'm in love! 😍

I love the extra smooth texture this gives my mashed potatoes. It can get hard to close if you fill it too full. I found only filling the basket halfway keeps it simple. A little extra work but the end results are worth the extra steps.

Does what it's supposed to do and build quality is good. A bit of a pain to clean due to it's size and design but the stainless steel build makes it a little easier as you don't have to worry about breaking or scratching it.

Shipping very fast

Only one of these I've ever used so I have nothing to compare to. It works well but it is a bit clumsy getting the pusher into place. It does make nice mash, but it takes time and a lot of squeezing to make a lot.
