Great for the self-learner.
This book, (as well as part one) is perfect for learning to play clarinet. The beginner is taken slowly and carefully through the rudiments of music reading, and each lesson builds steadily upon the previous, till a fine degree of competency is reached (I'd say grade 4/5). The tunes are a bit dated now, and the illustrations and typesetting are showing their age, but this book was published in 1953, and older learners will enjoy the tunes. There are loads of scale studies, technical exercises duets etc, and I've no doubt, that by the time I reach the end of this book, I'll be performing as well as my daughter, who has been playing since primary and is now working towards grade 6. Supplement it with some of Paul Harris's books, 50 classical studies, by Pamela Weston, and some of the Guestspot Playalong books that come with a backing band on CD, and you are made!

Upon opening it, I was immediately put off by the finger displays. So much so! That I never opened it again, ecept to show another player.
