good welding hood with lots of protection
This welding hood is well made and offers great protection. When you first open it, you do need to get used to the smell of the fresh leather, I left it for a few hours to air out a bit. All the seams are well stitched and on the inside you have a soft protective fabric around the head and face area while below that you have a nice pink Velcro fastening to pull the shoulder and neck cape tight in and protect your whole head and shoulders from any sparks. This I particularly like as normal masks don't protect the top of your head and sometimes bits have flown up there and ive got a hot head. The auto tinting display does a good job when welding but there is no adjustment like you get on a mask. Also, there is no head support inside so it probably won’t fit everyone and the eye part might not line up if you have a smaller head. It’s a bit claustrophobic when you first try it on, but I got used to that after a while and this is great for long welding sessions to feel nicely protected.Overall, for £29.99 it’s a good, well-made complete head protective welding hood and I use it more than I thought I would vs my plastic mask.

About as basic as it gets with one up to date touch.
This is the most basic of welding masks or more accurately hoods I've seen for years. The leather hood is good & thick but not too heavy, the light mask has a normal darkglass filter that flips up & down but the main one in the frame is an auto darkening one, it reacts quickly as you'd expect and returns to a dark tint when there's no bright light on it.The best thing about it is really he filter & auto darkening screen. While the hood certainly does the job of protecting from sparks etc it's not too comfortable to wear for any more than a few minutes at a time, there's no supporting frame in it so the front rests against you face & mostly your nose, it's a bit cramped and close inside and wouldn't be pleasant to wear for long in hot weather. It's fine as a spare, or as I'll be using it for occasional use if you need someone to hold things while you weld but I wouldn't recommend it as a main mask.I'm going to try to make it a little more user friendly by adding a support frame taken out of a hard hat.It does the job well enough but there are other more comfortable and user friendly options out there for not much more money, if you plan on using a mask regularly you may want to look around a bit more.

Strange but functional
I really don’t know how to write a review for this as it’s so different to anything I’ve ever seen never mind used, first of all it’s definitely protective of the head and face area that other much more expensive helmets are, it’s actually really comfortable to wear and I’m sure it will get better as it softens with use and best of all it is close fitting especially for the likes of under vehicle work, the auto dimming is automatic with no manual adjustments at all but it has a flip down manual dark visor for extended welding I would think. This is the sort of thing you would probably love or hate and at £20 it’s definitely worth a bash

Nice soft feel | Classic flip down double visor
Fits nicely; wearing it feels soft and not scratchy, bonus! The eye shield is riveted through the leather with a classic double lid flip down visor and nothing gives cause for concern at this point. I'll update if thereare any issues. My only real gripe is that mine didn't come with googly eyes like in the sales pictures ;)Good cheap soft leather helmet. A worthy purchase for the hobbyist
