Another Baofeng Success
The Baofeng UV-5G Plus (set of 2) is as advertised. The set included a programming cable that works with the free CHIRP programming software. This combination makes modifying channels or programming new channels very easy. The design of the radio was obviously a modification of Baofeng's popular amateur radio hand-held, the UV-5R, or others in its line of hand-held radios. The build is quite sturdy, and the UV-5G Plus is fairly easy to use. One feature I've used is the ability to set the display to frequency, channel, or working mode. In working mode a name, etc., can be shown if programmed in the CHIRP software. I put in locations of several of the repeaters I can hear from my location, so they are quickly recognized during a scan. Likewise, scans can be set to resume after a preset time (about 5 s), after the signal drops, or to remain on the detected channel/frequency. There are dozens of menu items you can adjust if you want. For the price, this unit was the best buy I could find in a GMRS radio, which does require an FCC license - $35 and do the application online.

Great radios with an awesome service experience!
We've had our radios for just about six months and have loved them. The most we have seen in reception quality is 3 miles line of sight through standard rural area including building and trees but it suits our needs. We wanted the ability to grab a GMRS repeater to extend our range when necessary and programming that is a piece of cake. We got a family license for $30 and are all set.The radio is surprisingly well built but we did notice that one of the radios did not hold the battery securely and eventually slipped out and was lost on a project we were working on. We bought two new replacement batteries and had the same issue. So, we contacted Baofeng who directed us immediately to their subsidiary Sharkoo (the vendor here) who sells on Amazon. To make it right, they immediately send out a new radio instead of having us go through the repair process. Folks, this is like the old days - where you get a great and durable product with the support to back it up if you need an assist. The entire experience has been great and these radios are exactly as folks say - amazingly capable for the price you pay. I'm totally sold on Baofeng and Sharkoo.

Big performance, little price
These radios work very well for coordinating on the prairie. The range is surprisingly good, and the audio is crystal clear. They're not as simple to use as some other radios, but they're not rocket surgery to get programmed and set up, either.I've only had these radios for a couple days, so I don't know about their durability, but for 30 bucks, I don't really care. If they break, I'll buy replacements.I was able to talk to my wife from 4 miles away with these radios over rolling hills, which is more than enough fars for my purposes. These radios, like all GMRS radios, don't do well with obstructions, but that's just a limitation of UHF comms. The only negative is that the menu screen is very thin red font on a dark blue background, and it's pretty much unusable in direct sunlight. The good news is, there's really nothing you'll likely need to do in the menu once you've got things set up, so it's a pretty minor annoyance. These are good little radios that feel like they cost way more than they do. Good purchase, I just ordered another set so we'll have four radios to distribute when off roading.

Great choice for GMRS
This radio is a very user friendly for GMRS with pre-programmed channel. You cannot mess it up. I have tested it with a 6" and 15" antenna. Both of them has a very similar performance for GMRS. It has a 5 watt power output, and yet its a performance it's pretty much the same as the so-called 10 watt power output radio. It is a very good choice for GMRS radio. Just FYI, the range is impressive ~1.6 miles in a dense residential area or 40 minutes walking distance.

Easy to use, durable, inexpensive
Good range, easy to use, long lasting battery and easily rechargeable. Screen brightness is perfect for daytime use without being too bright at night. Radio is a solid build and durable. Not too bulky and can easily attach to a belt or vest. Sound quality from the speaker and mic are good.

cost effective radio
these are great radios for emergency preparedness. if you can get a GMRS base station and put antenna high enough you can get further reach.

Works perfectly
Super easy to use and so far the battery life is great! I don’t use this on the daily so the battery is holding up pretty well! I keep it stored in my jeep for Jeep rides! I haven’t been far from my group so I’ve yet to test the distance!
