WHAT IS IN NICOBLOC? NICOBLOC is a natural nicotine and tar filtering product consisting of sugars, citric acid, food grade colouring, preservative and water. It is not a drug and does not require a prescription. HOW DOES NICOBLOC WORK? NICOBLOC is a stop-smoking aid that is very different to other smoking cessation products. Unlike patches, lozenges, gums and inhalers, it is not a nicotine replacement therapy. Instead it is used as part of a gradual reduction programme to wean smokers off nicotine in a comfortable manner. A drop of NICOBLOC (or two drops in week 2 and three drops in weeks 3 to 6) is applied and absorbed into the filter of a cigarette just before smoking. One drop of NICOBLOC blocks the inhalation of one third of the nicotine and tar in a cigarette, two drops blocks two thirds and three drops blocks almost all of the nicotine and tar. By gradually increasing the number of drops applied to each cigarette, the smoker is weaned off nicotine and avoids the major withdrawal symptoms commonly associated with quitting.
