Creative Abstract Watercolor: The beginner's guide to expressive and imaginative painting

Okay so I confess that I probably didn’t NEED this book; I’m not exactly a beginner but I have followed Kate on instagram for some years and love basically everything she creates 😍 Looking through the book I realised how much she’s influenced my own work in combination with a few more of my favourite artists. The book itself is brilliant and beautiful. Kate does some of the best colour mixing and palette creations I’ve ever seen! The book has clear, easy instructional text and images to demonstrate. Full step by step processes on how she’s created some of her most stand out types of pieces plus full breakdowns of materials, paint colour names and techniques used, in addition to teaching the techniques too. You can’t go wrong with this book or artist and I’m so happy to be able to support one of my favourite independent creatives. Thank you Kate! 💖

This is a wonderful watercolour book. The illustrations are bright, the projects are interesting, the instructions are very detailed and clear. You can make surprisingly good art following the book. I hope the author makes another book with even more projects. It would also make a beautiful gift for someone you love.

Kate's done an amazing job with this book. My watercolour paintings are mostly detailed and realistic. However, I have been struggling a bit in finding ways to loosen up my paintings. This book helps me to relax and fully embrace all the wonderful surprises watercolour has to offer. It has also helped me to wind down and relax after a busy week at work, and the fun projects make for a lovely warm up session before getting stuck into my more detailed/realistic paintings. This book is a visual treat in itself, and Kate's style of teaching makes her techniques so easy to approach and unintimidating. I've already tried three of the projects in the book, and thoroughly enjoyed the process and the outcomes. Highly recommend this book as an addition to your watercolour book collection. This book is wonderful. It’s really rich in information and the images and tutorials are easy to read and follow. I bought it as a birthday gift for myself and I’m really looking forward to volume to when it comes out. Great for both beginners and well versed artist too. Excellent value for money. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

This book is totally inspirational and provides step by step guidance on creating a piece of art. For ages I’ve been dissatisfied with what I’ve ‘created’ on paper but now I can stand back and feel a total sense of accomplishment- thank you!

Love this book. I'm a relative beginner so I'm earning lots and having lots of fun trying the techniques and activities. Will be buying book 2 once I've worked through this one. Love this style of art.

Schon der Einband ist mit seinen Goldprägungen ein Hingucker, lädt aber auch zum Berühren ein! Innen geht es genauso hochwertig weiter mit zunächst einfachen , aber durchaus schon dekorativen "Fingerübungen" mit Aquarellfarben - alles im abstrakten Bereich gehalten. Keine Landschaften oder Blumenstillleben, die Sorge aufkommen lassen, ob Ich das kann. Die Übungen laden ein, inspirieren und machen Lust alles auszuprobieren. So soll ein Anfängerbuch sein! Ich bin hellauf begeistert. Das Buch ist in englischer Sprache geschrieben. Die sollte man allerdings ausreichend beherrschen, damit man die Anleitungen versteht.

i am a beginner at watercolor painting and I bought this book on a whim. And I am glad I did! I have bought several watercolor books but this is by far my favorite. The author explains, in detail, what abstract art is, gives detailed information on materials and supplies needed (including her personal favorites), and she goes through the process of creating beautiful abstract watercolor paintings. The book explains techniques, how to create various abstract shapes, abstract botanicals, landscapes and much more. The book has 117 pages of gorgeous paintings and designs and is chock full of inspiration and ideas. I would give this book six stars if I could.
