Simple and effective.
Just add a pair of plates to your barbell and then roll it onto the deadwedge, then add more plates. Voila!

Good as a Last Resort …
While my gym has a bar jack for changing plates, I have been to several that do not. Changing plates on a deadlift bar without any type of lifting mechanism is miserable/annoying and can lead to unintentional injury. The DEAD WEDGE is a convenient tool to have on hand if a jack is not optional, but it’s convenience is limited to the number of plates you have on the bar.I am lucky to have a family member with the space and resources necessary to build a solid all-around gym during this quarantine mess. In constructing this personal gym, we have added numerous tools to accommodate just about everything imaginable to cover any facet of powerlifting/bodybuilding training. In order to avoid unnecessary clutter and conserve space, we added a pair of DEAD WEDGES to the gym. Two were bought (they are sold individually) so plates could be changed on each end simultaneously. The simple premise of the wedge is roll the inner plate up the wedge ramp into its “plate groove” and provide enough of a lift to allow the outer plates to slide off without having to lift the bar end to do so. While the idea is simple and somewhat effective, the more same-size plates you add to the bar makes it more difficult to use, especially if you are loading/unloading multiple 45 lb. plates to accommodate significant weight variances between/among lifters. When you get to 4-5+ 45lb plates on each side, a trial-and-error method is necessary to roll the bar up the ramp and not “overrun” the ramp. The lift provided by the wedge is much lower than a jack provides, so there is a tendency for plates to “scuff” the floor when removing then.Honestly, while the DEAD WEDGES do offer a space saving benefit, we are probably going to opt for a bar jack and just keep the wedges as a gym bag extra for emergency purposes.

Awesome product with some inherent limitations
This is a great time and energy saver for anyone loading up multiple plates on their deadlifts or olympic lifts. I love that it is orange (highly visible) and it seems to be made of high-quality material that will hold up for years. I have a home gym now but wished I had this in college as its easy to pack into a gym bag and take with you to the gym.Just remember that you still need to struggle to get that first plate on and last plate off - the wedge will only help you with every plate after the first. To get around this problem I load my first plate on each sleeve while the bar is on the rack and then move the bar down onto my platform. Then I roll it onto the wedge and load up additional plates. When I'm done I use the wedge to take off all but the last plate and then rack the bar to remove the final plate. This way I am always able to conveniently add/remove weight. My process won't work for everyone's setup so just be conscious when buying that the wedge will not remove 100% of the inconvenience surrounding adding weight to a bar that is on the ground.

Useful
Beats looking for a 2.5 lbs plate to prop up the barbell, but overall this is great for when you don’t have a jack namely when I’m at a commercial gym.

Compact, no frills, easy to use
Sturdy and simple. Takes up little to no space in a home gym. Makes a huge difference when loading multiple plates. Great product.

Only one wedge included
I did not read the product description fully, this is only one dead wedge, not a pair.

You need this. You just do.
This is the most ingenious thing. You're going to think, "I don't need that. How hard is it to just pick the bar up slightly and put the plates on? How hard is it to just use a 2.5lb plate instead?"My friend, you are wrong. Give in to your lazy self. You're on this page for a reason. You want this. And I'm here to tell you that you need it. It's flawless. It does exactly what you want it to do: it ever so slightly raises the plates to make unloading and loading a breeze. It is lightweight. It fits in your bag. It's orange, so all the other gym goers will see it, mentally call you lazy, and then go home and think "...do I need that? Maybe I do need that." And soon you will all have dead wedges and you'll be dead wedge bros. You'll make friends. Your gym crush will see your new confidence and your multiple plate deadlift and think that maybe he or she needs a mate who works smarter, not harder. You will be the inventor of the wheel among a gym of cave men.Go buy it already.

Preparation is no longer back-breaking
It used to be my back would get tired just loading the weights on the barbell and I couldn't go all out on deadlifts. This little wedge makes a huge difference! Loading the initial plates on the bar, or if I go up in weight and have to remove plates to add bigger is still the same, but once that's done, the Dead Wedge really helps. This is only really an issue if (like me) you're using plates of different sizes - if they're all competition plates, you shouldn't have any issues. For me, I do some warmup sets, then have to remove those smaller, lighter plates and add the bigger, heavier plates for my working sets. For those, I use 35s as a base and because they're larger than the lighter weights it's not a problem.

They do the job
They work and are easy to useSmallSometimes when changing plates there is a tendency for the inner plate to come away from the inside edge of the barbell

Fantastic bit of kit!
What a great little tool!I have a commercial gym in Whitstable, Kent, and have a deadlift jack for the lifting platforms which works well, but is not of use when pulling off of blocks, so I thought I'd give one of these a try rather than keep trying to balance the plates on a 2.5kg disc each time.I'm extremely pleased with it, and I am very fussy when it comes to gym kit.Very few gyms have a deadlift jack, and humping on plates when your lower back is already fatigued can feel harder than the actual lift, so I'd highly recommend this to anyone for their gym bag, or better yet encourage your gym to buy a couple.

It works !!
I really like the dead wedge , it's just so easy and convenient to use . At first was thinking it was just some gimmick that wouldn't work well , but it does the job ! So easy to load 45lb plates now , I'm considering getting a second one so I can lift both sides . Great simple product !!TM

Just a great, simple product
the dead wedge is a great product, pretty much perfect. I have my gym in my garage and use bumper plates on a rubber floor so loading the bar for deadlifts is a pain in the rear. I was looking for a deadlift bar jack but they are expensive and I don't really have the space for it. Came across this little product on Amazon whilst searching for a deadlift Jack, it does the job perfectly, is cheap, and takes up no storage space at all. Absolutely perfect for my needs. Highly recommended.
