Excellent value for SK2 steel and Walnut handle
For the price of $10-12, it’s a good value for a decent quality knife. The walnut handle at this price is a bit of a luxury that you don’t often see. The steel is SK2 steel, which is a high carbon Japanese steel similar to 1095 but with even higher carbon and hardness. The edge was indeed razor sharp out of the box; I felt no need to sharpen it at all. Great value and it does work very well as a dedicated wood carving knife.

Dad stole mine it was so good
The handle grip is so comfortable and versatile that my dad borrowed it and won't give it back now. It's a beautiful knife, it might be the nicest one from Hutsuls.

Great carving knife
I recently got into carving 4 months or so ago and got this blade to see how it held up. I have to say after about a month of use I’m still really happy with this blade. The handle was a little larger than I expected but still fits comfortably in my hand. It’s been easy to maintain a sharp edge with stropping. It’s a great quality knife especially for its price.

Good knife for the money
Wasn’t sure what to expect at 12 bucks, but I like this knife. Frequent sharpening is necessary with regular usage, but it carves very effectively when it has a good edge, which is quickly achieved. Tang came a little loose from the handle but was easily epoxied back into place. Overall this is a very useful knife at an extremely low price.

Deal for the price
I ordered the Hutsuls NX-W Wood Carving, Woodworking Knife as a curiosity. How good is it at this price point? The first thing I noted was that the blade is the size of a Morakniv 106. The end of the blade is slightly more pointed. No case but a good piece of plastic to protect the tip. I don't like the handle grip. It does not feel good in my hands. I do like the color of the wood. I thought about reshaping the handle, but I feel it would be too small. I might just remove the handle and make one of my own. The blade arrived slightly sharp. It could barely cut paper and I had some difficulty cutting basswood. After about 5 minutes of stropping and buffing, I was able to get it to very sharp. It now glides through paper and cuts basswood easier. It's not a Mora, but it is also half the price. This could be a good beginning carving knife. Just learn how to strop so you can get it sharp. A sharp knife makes carving fun. Wear a carving glove.

Very nice knife
Needed a good, sharp knife for carving wood for acoustic instruments and this one works perfectly.

I don't know what this knife is for but it's not what you think
This knife in particular has a weird geometry that in every cut I did in hard or soft woods it just dig in deep. I have sloyd knives and wanted to try this one out because my son wanted his on knife and loved the way this one looked. The knife itself is too thin or something so any cut unless you're using the very tip for tiny cuts was useless. I'd say go to a tried and true mora 106. These people need to thicken up this knife some before it ever becomes useful. Mind you, this isn't coming from a hateful place. Nothing terrible happened this is just not a good wood carving g knife is all. I hope they see this review and plan accordingly. Maybe discontinue this one and make a better 2.0 version.
